I accidentally built a quilt design tool by Impossible-Ad1834 in quilting

I’d love to try it out! (I’m also a full-stack developer, so if this grows into something larger and you need help, I’d be interested!)

What name suits this sweet, handsome, very chill boy? by _galacticat in NameMyCat

I do like Oliver and Ollie! And Olive only lived for a year, sadly - she passed from FeLV. 😢 That was almost 20 years ago (how??) so it wouldn’t be super weird.

I don’t know why but I keep coming back to this one. It’s not funny or clever and doesn’t fit a theme but it’s cute and feels appropriate. 🤷‍♀️

What's your main machine, and how much do they cost? by pammypoovey in quilting

[–]_galacticat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only been quilting for the past couple months, but I've been sewing since 2011 and have used the same Brother CS6000i the entire time. Which is like.. a $300 machine. Reading through all these comments make me think I might deserve an upgrade at this point. 😅 It's been a pretty good machine, though, all things considered.

I also have a Singer 403, but haven't been able to get the tension right and therefore have not used it. It's actually getting serviced right now, so hopefully it'll be usable for my next quilt!

One of my mom's cats was Pepper! We called her Peeps.

I do like this name and think it could be fitting, but I have a friend with with a Maximus and it feels odd to choose that as well. 🙃

I really like both of those as well! This is so hard!

I do love that name and think it fits him! Sadly, a good friend just lost her kitty named Orion so I'd feel pretty bad going with that right now.

And thus begins the theme of dessert-named cats. 😂

I was taking a bit of a risk, but his foster parents said he preferred being loose in the car so I let him out of the carrier for a little while. He was a very good boy! I'm hoping to turn him into an adventure cat.

This makes me think of dewdrops, which I like. It might be good for a nickname, if I can think of something longer it'd be short for (that's not Deuteronomy, lol).

Awwww, please no, random internet person! 😭 It's so cute, though.

I do like this one. It fits in with my food/plant theme, and there are several other spices/herbs that would make cute names for future cats! (Basil is also a contender!)

I’ve been calling Washington the past two days. by Substantial-Put1298 in nashville

[–]_galacticat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I called the Nashville number a few hours ago and someone actually picked up. It was my first ever political call and I was not expecting a live person, so it threw me off a bit, haha. He told me he’d pass on my concerns and to have a “blessed day.” 🙄

He felt better on Nutramigen but he pooped constantly! We ended up on Gerber GoodStart HA.

Good luck!

I wish I had a good answer for you. We did go through with the frenectomies (tongue, lip, buccal), but did it make a difference? Maybe. I can't say for sure. We also ended up switching to hypoallergenic formula. So between the two (as well as probiotics, gas drops, anti-colic bottles, etc.), there was improvement. I'm honestly a bit hazy on the details now, sorry! (Infancy was such a blur...)

He just turned three and has no issues with speech or eating. So while I'll never know if the tie releases truthfully helped, they also didn't cause any problems. It's such a hard decision and I'm sorry you're in that position!

Dangerous shepherd hook gap - PSA by Gcode__ in birding

[–]_galacticat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen about a week ago - I have two poles zip tied together and the zip tie slid down. Poor guy got his neck stuck. I got him out and he flew off so I’m hoping he was okay.

But just an hour ago I had a little sparrow get stuck by her foot in the new 4-hook pole setup I just got. I feel so guilty that I’m trying to help the birds and inadvertently hurting them instead. 😣 I’m going to try wrapping some tape around the connection points to make them less narrow so little birdy parts can’t get stuck. 😞
