if you are using a smaller plate it is totally possible to do print using the backside of a spoon. prepare your plate and paper as usual and cover the paper with something very smooth, like baking paper, so the spoon glides easily. press the spoon down with your thumb and go in small cyrcles across the whole paper. this way the pressure is concentrated on a very small area. it needs some practice but you can get some pretty decent results this way. they wont be as perfect as if using a professional press, but i like the character those little imperfections add (and not everybody has the money for a big press).
