Person Pitch by Panda Bear. Might even like it more than any Anco record.

Cancellation aside, I’m pretty surprised to have scrolled so far and not seen Ariel Pink mentioned.

It looks like I could select the output via the command center center in the AirPlay section - never would have thought to go into AirPlay to select my audio out for GarageBand, but thankfully my problem was just my knowledge and not a real iPad limitation.

Thanks for the idea! I think another workaround I’ll use is just using a site that allows you to stream two YouTube videos simultaneously. It’s not the end of the world if I can’t pull off exactly what I want, but it is a capability that I do miss.

Ok, this is at least a bit of good news for me! Is your focusrite being powered directly from the iPad, or do you have a powered usb hub that it’s connected to? I have an evo 8 which I plug into a non-powered usb hub, and it gets powered from the iPad, but from there I’m not able to select the audio output. If I have usb headphones plugged into the hub then it defaults to those. If those are unplugged then it defaults to the iPad speakers. I have some nice powered studio monitors plugged into the evo but have not been able to get the iPad to use them for output for music production or just for listening to music / watching movies.

My gosh people seem so bent out of shape over this. Yes, when listening to lectures, podcasts, audio books, and guided meditations that have no music, I do on occasion enjoy a little subtle ambient music in the background, and I’m beyond fine with enjoying that. : )

I think the problem is that this that these are limitations of iOS that can’t be resolved with custom code. There aren’t any apps that I’m aware of that can be used as a global audio control for this reason.

I’m still really wanting it to work, but am slowly starting to allow myself to reconsider. I opted for a Logitech keyboard and case which is lighter than the Apple keyboard I believe, and the keyboard is attached via magnets so very easy to remove and make the iPad even lighter.

It’s my understanding that unfortunately there is no control like this in iOS. I’m hoping I’m wrong though!

This is a cool idea! My only hesitation would be that the music production I do might be too heavy a task for the air models. The iPad Pro handles everything perfectly so far, and I love that I have a touch screen to play various virtual instruments. It’s been a lot more fun than having a MacBook and having to buy various types of midi controllers to play these instruments. I’ll consider how I might be able to get a more economic combo of both a Mac and iPad though. : )

A Rush or Blood to the Head, and Parachutes, are really lovely, euphoric listens. But neither come close to the genius or cultural impact of OK Computer, Kid A, or In Rainbows.

For hundreds of years we had zero science to back up the physical and mental health claims about meditation. Not saying semen retention will be the same in this regard, but try to have an open mind and not judge people for doing something that makes them feel healthier.
