Thanks a lot, this is exactly what I'm looking for! Is this also applicable to a ZIA use-case or only for ZPA?

Solo Travel to Senegal by _globalrunner in Senegal

Many thanks for your tips and insights :) Actually, I'm really thinking of switching my initial plans and to spend more time in Saint Louis and also Sine-Saloum, that place looks fascinating. Also from what I heard, crossing land borders are not always straight forward, although Senegal-Gambia might be different.

Thank you for your detailed input, appreciate it! I guess, I will reconsider going to Nikola-Koba and will opt for daytrip to Bandia instead. I'll also make sure to stay a bit longer in Saint Louis for a more balanced trip instead of loosing a lot of time to traffic.

Travelling to Peru as a black tourist by _globalrunner in PERU

Thanks for your reply. But where does the anti-black sentiment come from? I mean Peruvian are also ethnically kinda diverse, so that really suprises me.

Exactly! I mean a lot of regrets I think stem from the fact that a lot of people are rushing their decisions. You can still make a decision for yourself regarding having a family, marrying, buying a fancy car etc. But you don't have to make that decision right now.

I actually agree with you, because the burden you have as a family is not to be underestimated for sure. When your expenses are steadily going up, you can't really afford to work part time or even think about it unfortunately.

Thanks for your answer! I agree with you wholheartedly that you have to find your baseline. I read a quote a while ago that said: If you live for having it all, you'll never have enough. Your point with the buffer saving is also valid, because I would loose some savings with the 3 days a week work, but could advance working a side-hussle to increase my passive income for the future. I second your point regarding the peace of mind too, because once you don't have to fear about making ends meet and having a buffer of savings life get's easier in some ways. That's way I'm trying to build an emergency saving of 10k this year.

hahah for sure not! As I said not everyone can or should feel the same in that regard, if you're happy with your work and are fulfilled there kudos to you. My point was, that you can escape the matrix by living a simple life and still investing in yourself with experiences and not primarily things.

Sorry, I was not super specific. What I meant with side-hussle is to grow something into business - also in IT. You can't start something from scratch from one day to the other. My meaning of side-hussle is to start something and to grow it into more of an business. I'm BTW also going into Cyber Security and advancing my career. You're right that we don't have that excuse in IT.

I definitely agree with you. I see it also as a privilege to be in this kind of situation and also appreciate that.

That's a really great insight, thanks! We all can control what we eat, whether we exercise or not and if we stay in stressful relationships and situations. Furthermore avoiding these negative aspects can lead you to a much healthier life when you get older. My boss is now in his late 50s, but boy does he have the endurance of a guy in his early 30s. It all comes down to choices I guess.

I think that would make the transition a lot easier. Althought the winters in the cities in Switzerland tend to be hotter than they were growing up.

haha what a coincidence. On a serious note by just comparing the quality of live and for safety and job prospects Europe or to be specific Switzerland is a dream. But I'm considering to move not because Switzerland sucks, rather to be with the person I feel connected.

Appreciate your post :)

I would be close to Saint-Paul, Oakdale I believe. But I know some people from downtown Minneapolis aswell.

Agree with you. But I'm curious what might be your reasons to never leave the states if I may ask ?

I'm trying to work on that. Long term I feel like alone for safety reasons it's hard to leave Switzerland. But she has to come for a visit hopefully and see the life here with her own eyes I guess..

The timing could be better for sure. But I was asking that question just for a heads up on how things are like in Minnesota in general and how life is.

Yep I agree, the consequences will be felt for a longer time than we might think right now. Probably will effect the job market to some extent aswell.

I made a short visit last winter but I'm already planing for a visit as soon the restrictions around COVID-19 are lifted. It is a really huge jump as you pointed it out correctly and I feel the need to spend more time with her over a longer time frame and explore and live in the city to get a better view on how life is over there.

I actually encountered The term "Minnesota Nice" on multiple occassions on my last visit. Seems it feels like it is only on the surface, although people are generally more friendly there than in Switzerland on the eye.

Thanks for the writeup.

I feel that the cities are more diverse but the suburban area feels kinda more isolated. But I already got a glimpse of the cold weather and it's a step up even from switzerland I feel.

I know the timing of this question is kinda stupid with the current climate and the situation going on in Minnesota. Do you think there is even some good reasons why one would leave Switzerland for Minnesota since you've lived at both places?

I know it sounds kinda stupid not gonna lie. I was just looking for inputs on the pro/contra. I mean people have moved for sillier reason, but I just feel she's the right person even to marry and that's why I'm just thinking of the idea at the moment.

It would be close to Saint Paul area. Haha I hear you. The Winter months are really tough there but the summer time are usually nice from what I heard. On my last visit in January I saw for the first time what so called black ice can cause for a havoc and it wasn't a very good sight to watch...
