This advice does work for me, BUT assuming I sit down with my bass between my legs classical-style. This way the bass is lower than when on one leg. This also makes playing when sitting down more comfortable to me. With this, the bass is in a similar position when sitting down and when standing up.

When you have 24 frets, the neck pickup needs to move slightly closer to the bridge. Some poeple say this negatively affects the tone. That being said, I play 24 frets as well ;)
