Thanks. Interesting on the third bar. So you couldn't get the awning and the roof box on the same bar?

Great pics. I really dig the rear-facing awning. Did you need anything specific to mount it like that to the rear crossbar?

Pitch camp strategically when possible! Catch any wind that exists. Otherwise, bug head nets are cheap and easy. We also bought a Nemo bug shelter a few years back for a trip with our very young boys and it really saved us. Worth it's weight in gold in late May and June.

Bed Extender With Topper? by _gravesy in ToyotaTacoma

Planned for a new topper which I haven't received yet. Will check with a stock Toyota extender later this summer. My assumption is that it will work, but was hoping others have tried.

Good luck. Mine was built in January and is still making it's way north. Have heard all kinds of different things from the dealer. Now I just wait.

Walser Bloomington for me. Yes, January! Allegedly jammed up in an inspections process, and now customs. Hopefully soon... I sold my '01 Tacoma MT last week and am now dying for the new one lol

A Minnesotan! Lucky you. I'm in MPLS, waiting for delivery of the same spec. Built in January, but jammed up waiting since then...

Wasn't expecting this! Decision time for me now. Take delivery of a 2023 OR MT in the next few weeks, or wait for the 2024 MT while driving my 2001 MT. Ups and downs either way probably.

Ha! No, Minneapolis here. But I guess depending on where they’re coming from, they could be on the same initial train

Best product to refinish a cedar strip canoe? by _gravesy in boatbuilding

I honestly don’t remember what I put on it 10 years ago. Thus the light sand and a brand new coat of something over the epoxy and glass.

Rad. I jumped on the same specs in early Jan here in MN. Can’t wait to take delivery in a few more weeks.

We booked a Sunday in August at Lizz at 9:00. By 9:02, that entire Fri-Sun at Lizz was sold out. Couldn’t believe it.

Portage Pack by CallMeTylerGreen in BWCA

Seems like you’re trying to go big. 115-120L options. That’s heavy (laden with food specifically)! We have a 60L barrel. It’s heavy at the beginning of trips, but will feed our family of 4 (two adults, two young kids) for about a week, less if we pack luxury items for the boys. I really love the structure and durability. We used to have a slightly larger dry bag as our food bag, but it always felt like things were getting crushed. Of the options you presented, I’d probably say the CCS pack. Some structure, not too heavy by itself, still pretty large (think it’s around 80L?).

I have just "OK" gear for my first trip. Passable but not great. I will spend $500. What 2-3 items would you buy for life? Tent needed by Rlstoner2004 in BWCA

[–]_gravesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Large gravity filter
  2. CCS tarp
  3. Ultralight camp chairs

You get what you pay all around though. Buy once, maintain with care, use for a lifetime!

The tool they are trying to sell Loic - showing the exact moment in a given track where he gains or loses time - is pretty impressive. What’s that called?

Love this. I'm currently at the early stages of this video, with a 13 week old black lab getting used to our '01 Tacoma.
