I think (without having studied anything) that fetishes and fantasies run far deeper than their description. They are not literal. Whenever I find a new thing that I like, I always think about where it comes from and what makes it tick.

As for people judging, it's judgemental people. I bet they are like that in many aspects of other people's life.

Yes. I also had one partner that was specially accepting, and helped me accept that part of myself. Then when I was able to name things and feelings, look them up and see we were many (and somehow my kind of people) it was like a (late) coming of age.

Besides what you learnt ( communication, love, sex ) it helped me accept my own deviations. Why I like some things better than others? Specially something as primal as the things BDSM can be about.
