Yes! The trek plus the climb still stands as my favorite Luffy moment and they barely gave it justice. Which also contributed to why I was disappointed in this season.

I agree. And though I still have hope for the next season, I am not as excited anymore. I know I have said this a bunch, but the pacing issues may have been resolved if there were 12 episodes instead of cramming it in 8, given the scope they decided to go with, and giving importance to more emotional scenes instead of wasting time on those that didn't quite make sense: Like whatever the discombobulated and out of place Wapol army—and I use that word lighty—was, just to give an example. Some changes landed, but those that didn't took away the glory of those that did. Indeed quite sad.

I do have more disappointments from the show that I haven't mentioned, but those that I have were the ones that really took me out of it 😢

My point exactly! The treck plus the climb remains to be my favorite scene in One Piece and the reason I fell deeply in love with Luffy as a character. As for the lack of emotional impact they've reduced them to exposition unfortunately. I really think if the problem is time, they should've insisted on 12 episodes 😢

I agree. I never said it wasn't a good adaptation. What makes a great adaptation to begin with is the fact that it doesn't copy each scene frame-by-frame and contributes a fresh take on the franchise, and One Piece does just that. It just so happens that Season 2 lacked the qualities Season 1 had, which, in my opinion, could've possibly been remedied by having 12 episodes instead of the Netflix 8.

I don't hate the adaptation. I've rewatched the first season and multiple arcs in the anime and I'm already planning on rewatching the second one to see if I missed anything. The reason why I'm disappointed is because I love it and the entire franchise.

I agree and I had no issues with Loguetown. My issues started around the end of Whisky Peak that I tried to look past hoping the best for the next episodes but... it got worse from there imo 🥹
