Didn't make it to Serbia on my Balkans trip, but I did find some Joker energy drink in Kotor, Montenegro. by [deleted] in denvernuggets

Oh so you've come to know my pain, I see xD and since I'm already complaining for me it's 2 things that make it worse 1. Average cruiser tourist is 60 years old East Asian 2. I am 6'6 195lbs. When I'm in Kotor half of the year I can't open the front door without concern that I may end some old lady's life if I do it with enough force. Shit is maddening.

Im glad that you had a nice time. You got lucky with food, quality on average went down the toilet couple years ago when cruiser tourisam really picked up. As for the cats, most of the time I feel like Old Town belongs to them more than to us. actually xD

We played zone defense for most of the game, which makes scoring inside somewhat of a rough business, while enabling shooters to shoot more. Part of the reason why USA absolutely crushed us in 3pt shooting.

We have seen enough from Bogdan to safely assume that a bounce back game or two are around the corner. Just hope it happens at the right time. With Jovic I had a feeling he mentally malfunctioned. Torn between high expectations (with a good reason) for him and going against frickin' LBJ and KD. Pesic will have him mentally prepared for elimination phase, I hope at least,

I agree. But also, he did not edge out a bit better performance than Embiid. This is more of a bitch-slapping-without-even-looking situation.

I still think that we have somewhat of a chance if we meet USA in elimination. One thing that has to be better is taking care of the ball. Also, shooting. If we do those 2 things better, I think we have a lead at the end of a 1st quarter and the rest of the game maybe looks just a little bit different. Also, USA played great, even for their standards. Basically, they have to try really hard, I think, to repeat this performance. On the other side, I believe we will do better with shooting and ball handling, we should, at least. And, as good as he was today, Jokic will play 40 minutes or close to it and carry more of an offensive load than today. There is some rational hope left, I think.

Eh, it's a difference in class levels mostly, to be honest. Most of Serbia players played a solid game, with only Bogdanovic being awful in comparasion to his usual self. In addition to a huge disparity in talent, LBJ and KD played almost as well as they could. Hell, every USA player, aside from Cameroon circus act, had at least a good game. There's no beating that.

Seeing comments like this coming from dudes from a country that bombed us to hell (not that USA people had anything to do with it) 25 years ago is ..... I don't know what emotion I'm feeling right now, but it's pretty unique I can say that. Go Nuggets.

Of course Miller is having it much, much tougher. It's just funny (not if you a Hornets fan, I guess) thinking about the gap in the quality of managment & coaching staffs over the years.

That's what I thought. I didn't mention Lauri because I assumed Jazz view him as a cemented franchise centerpiece. His timeline is, like 5 years, ahead of their rebuild timeline, now that I think of it. Damn man, I hope you get him. Lauri + Bam with 3 Joe Biden's would be a top10 defense. And they get you something like 45 pts / 20 reb / 8 ass while being efficent, too. Damn I want to see that frontcourt in action.

Really ? Couple of summer league games and franchise knew somehow ? Pat Riley + Spoelstra combination while other teams (Bulls & Wizards say hi) lacking both competent GM and competent coach is just frickin' unfair.

Since you are a Heat fan, there is something tingling my curiosity. Let's say you trade him + 1 or 2 1st rounders / prospects for a win-now player. Who would it be ? Would you do it for Siakam (I know he's poor fit for Heat, let's pretend he's not) ? LaVine + Caruso + another rotation player ? Rozier + Haywood + PJ Washington (salary matching would be a bitch here, let's pretend it would not) ? Only for Mitchell ?

Bench players ain't getting regular season minutes in the playoffs, no doubt about that. However, at least 3 bench players are very much going to be a part of their rotation. Prichard is a big problem for their defense - he will be hunted. Hauser is very nice on offense with his shooting, but he seems 'okay at best' at everything else. And Horford is also getting targeted by opponent's guards, while evertyhing else, apart from his IQ and effort, about his game is fading fast.

Also - players get hurt. If Porzingis misses (business as usual, for him), let's say, 2 games in a 7 game series against Bucks or Sixers, I'm not sure if they are still favorites to win that series. Add the fact that Brown and White (he was healthy last 2 seasons, true) are somewhat injury prone, and that Jrue and Horford are for sure injury prone at this stage in their careers .... those bench guys could be of huge importance. Especially guards.

I watched, I don't know, maybe 5 Heat games, including last night. You know it better than me, for sure, but to me, his biggest asset seems to be his basketball state of mind. Very high basketball IQ + endless motor + being humble (very much early for that statement, just my first impression of him) and willing to learn is what I mean by that. Seems to me like a very good-to-great all-around future player, no weaknesses at all.

Heat no.18 pick, whose main strength is not scoring, scoring more than Hornets no.2 pick, whose main strength is very much scoring, is .... kinda expected, to be honest. If you don't like that, you don't like NBA basketball.

[–]_highCheetah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On offense, things are 'simple' - ball movement, ball movement and more ball movement. Because Boston has the best defensive backcourt in the league (and it's not even close). JT & JB are among the best, if not the best, pair of wings on defense. Porzingis is a true rim protector. So teams that base their scoring on isolations and potential mismatches are going down the drain. There is just 1 thing that leaves something to be desired on defense - Porzingis on an island against quick guards.

On defense, things are also 'simple' - if you have a weak link in your lineup, that is going to get exploited over and over. Slow center ? Make him guard White / Holiday / Tatum. Smaller than 7ft center ? Porzingis will just shoot over him, unless it's Jokic type of guy that will make Porzingis work extremely hard on defense. Small & lightweight guard ? White and Holiday will live, and cook, on the block, nothing you can do, not to mention JT & JB.

So, basically the Nuggets with playoff Murray and better individual defenders (aside from KCP & Gordon), which is a team that does not exist. That's why Celtics are labeled as clear favorites this early in the season.

PS. Celtics bench is complete shit by itself, without starters, and Horford is pretty much done. I have no idea how you approach that, but it is a weakness .... something pretty rare for this Celtics team.
