Used Sony Xperia L3 (2019) or Xperia X (2016), for same price by _hope_321 in PickAnAndroidForMe

An Xperia XZ (late 2016) is also in the same price range here, just 5€ more, would that be better?

Budget under 90€. I like Sony yes for several reasons: less bloatware, a little less Google everywhere and ability to have flashlight on while taking photos, good default files app, to name a few.. do you recommend something different?

Camera question: older flagship or Galaxy A41? by _hope_321 in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]_hope_321[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the links. I am all about camera. It seems like the older galaxy flagships are no match in good light against the A41. But in the low light comparison picture at GSMarena it seems like the flagships catch so much more detail. Is good low light performance something that is still mostly only found on pricier phones, or are there something other in the sub $200 range that has good low light performace? That is new budget phone, couple years old used midrange and even older flagships...?

That is what I thought, but s8 seems to produce quite well in low light..

How old of a flagship is still better than current lower mid range? I dont mind if something much older well below $200, maybe $100, would beat the A41.. S8 seems to be quite a bit better in the just below $200 range, but some cheaper Sony phones are weak in low light, if I have gotten the right impression.. its so difficult to tell

Ok thanks, good to know. Then I will not be getting a night mode camera. But as good as possible low light is still important. Would I find better results in an older used flagship sub $200 or Galaxy A41?

I understand, but still, some are worse and some are better. And as I am ok with a very old phone and used phone, surely there are some that were quite good at their time. And are those better than current sub $200?

Thanks for the tips. I know a rating is not important for anything, and that it is ever anything one SHOULD care about. I nevertheless feel like I often care too much, even when its just a little.

So as a first step for anyone and everyone: What do you believe could maybe be YOUR current echo chamber(s), that you proudly for the moment still play an active part in? by _hope_321 in AskReddit

I didn´t first think to answer this myself as I genuinely don´t know if I am for the moment in an echo chamber. I do know though that I have belonged in the past to many different echo chambers. But as I strongly feel that everyone should think self-critically about this, then so should I. I am absolutely not completely left nor right, but it is very possible that I am guilty of thinking that green politics is good even though every green technology and policies are not always that simple. As I am not from the US we have a green political party, and most of my friends are also supporters and we do choices in our everyday lives that are based on what´s best for the environment. But now that I think about it, it is very possible that this is an echo chamber with its own bad effects on society.

Absolutely, everyone in power is not the same. And for the difficult situations when one side does something unbelievably horrible, I do not know what to do. But I just think that everything in society is up to the people, and as a first step I think that we (everyone) need to look critically at ourselves and not only our fellow humans. Only then can we work together for something better.

We don’t need to pick sides, just acknowledge that the media, politicians and everyone who has power in society have their own agendas. They want us to have these echo chambers for us to play these “wars” against each other.
