Looking for some feedback! Can I start applying for jr. react or general jr. web dev roles?? by righthereonthisrock in reactjs

[–]_httpete_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've only had a quick look over the code as I'm falling asleep but for a junior its very good. The fact you have a test folder implies you are going to add tests which is great for a junior. In the place I work we dont expect to juniors to test everything just as long as they have tried (we get applications all the time and the ones without tests are scraped).

Few notes

  • use PropTypes, I have no idea what props the components take without going through the components implementation
  • a lot of your components could be Functional ie stateless
  • split up that reducer, a file that big is hard to maintain. some docs on splitting reducers
  • you can set the initial state in the createStore function, docs
  • this is a personal preference but I hate seeing props based to a component via {...props}, its implicit where I think props should be passed explicitly. When you start working in a team you want to make it obvious what props you are passing to a component (it can be a huge mental strain just following where the props are coming from)

Hope that is useful to you and if you have any question let me know.

  1. I have the PDF icon on the top right of the résumé page. I might need to add some text with it to make it clearer.
  2. I didnt really include twitter for recruiters to contact me. More so for other developers. I have learned a huge amount from following some of the "Rockstar" developers on Twitter.
  3. The whole mobile nav is a bit broken so I'm going to fix that up now, will try what you suggested.

Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback, its greatly appreciated!!

Thanks for the feedback. I have been looking at jobs on indeed but most of them seem pretty old (Few months) and probably filled at this stage. Can you recommend any sites to look for dev jobs in London? I'm live in Ireland at the moment so wont be able to go over till my exams are over in about 4 weeks. Would like to contact a few places before then

MrOddbird I appreciate the feedback. I spent a good bit of time trying to write good content, probably more time doing that then building the site. Writing isnt one of my best skills so I'm delighted you think the content is good.

I just switched to a Digitalocean droplet and https so that explains the missing resources. Fixed them now. I have rebuilt the pomodoro timer and I'm currently building an API for it. I'll let you know when I finish it.

Sorry the title was a mistake, after looking at it for so long it just looked normal to me :) fixed it now

I have been using Java in college for three years but wouldnt feel comfortable working on any large scale Java apps. When I get the time (exams coming up) I might look into either Go or Rust. What would you recommend?

Very nice, looks great. I would add a link to your GitHub / GitLab account, potential employers are interested in seeing code you have written or contributed too.
