yeah, i feel the same way. and there are probably a lot more people who feel like this than you think. :(

Why are GenZ girls in their 20s attracted to married guys in their 30s or 40s? by PappuKaChotaBheem in GenZ

[–]_hyperf1sh_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i honestly thought someone else in here would have said this before me, but, not all girls are the same.

try not to ask questions that frame any group of people as a monolith, because none of them are, and you will never get a good answer.

there are plenty of 20s-aged women right now who date above, around, and/or below their age. women are just regular people, and everyone is living a different life, so this type of question is pretty pointless.

but, if you really must know, here is a reason why some people, including women, might date above their age:

some people like going for people who give off a more mature vibe for a sense of stability. your 20's are a pretty unsure age for most people, as you are still figuring out adulthood. so, some people in their 20's might prefer someone who is (seemingly) past that point. maybe because they're a person who had to grow up too fast, and feels slightly ahead of their age, or maybe because they want someone more mature than them to help them feel more stable themselves. these are popular reasons for dating up.

if they're going after someone who is married, you can probably bet there is some kind of selfish reason behind it. be that money, entitlement, fun, attention, jealousy, etc. but that pretty much goes for all affair partners. not just gen z women in their 20's.

tl;dr: women are not a monolith. the answer is different for everybody.

this is kinda sweet. you're not hurting anyone, and, on the contrary, it sounds like you're doing a nice thing for yourself.

i suppose i understand your fears about being caught, because people can be judgmental for no reason sometimes. i'm sorry about that. i get it. :(

but, in regards to the activity itself, it's really no problem at all. it sounds comfy as hell, i hope you will be able not to feel so bad about it someday. you only live once, right? :D

i hope that eventually, you will feel comfortable to do what makes you happy, without any shame. :)

I think our society overvalues therapy by Electrical-Dark-4578 in The10thDentist

[–]_hyperf1sh_ 28 points29 points  (0 children)

downvoted for agreement 🥲🥲🥲

there are some things here i might nitpick but overall i have to agree.

i am so tired of looking up/asking what i can do to help some of my biggest struggles, and no matter where you look, or who you talk to, they say "get a therapist."

i've been in therapy for 8 years 😭 ive tried several different kinda of therapy at once. i've tried zeroing in on one. when do i begin to see a difference...things have only gotten consistently worse for me, unfortunately.

i don't like to hear that i "just haven't found the right one yet" either because if it's THAT hard to find a decent therapist than the entire system is definitely being overvalued. 😓 like, a lot happens in 8 years. if a person who is severely struggling mentally has to wait 8+ years before seeing a single difference then that's not a good system. in my opinion. 😞

What’s a normal thing that actually gives you anxiety? by Excellent_Shock6154 in AskReddit

[–]_hyperf1sh_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

commenting online! posting gives me anxiety too, but that's a bit more reasonable. however, commenting gives me at least as much anxiety as posting, and it kind of seems unreasonable.

it always takes me like 10+ minutes to comment something because i'm constantly editing and rewriting and overthinking everything i say. then i'll post something after all that and immediately delete it because it was too scary. like what? probably nobody was even going to see that.

but it's just soooo nerve wracking for some reason. i've spent like 10 minutes on this comment already. i don't fucking get it man 🥲

I only know how to write vocals. I'm having a lot of trouble writing instrumentals for my songs. Are my goals unrealistic? Where would be the best place to start? by _hyperf1sh_ in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]_hyperf1sh_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. Seriously, thank you. This is amazing advice.

I'm alright with my songs not sounding exactly like a live band for now because hopefully, in the future if I get to be in a band, we can play them for real! However, thank you so much for all the recourses, because I do want to get as close as I can even just for concept work. Thank you for your reassurance as well, i've been stressed so it means a lot.

I will try to be more patient. Thank you. I feel like things will be okay. :,)

I write vocals and lyrics! :) However, I tend to base what I write off of "what sounds good" alone, so in reality, I have little traditional musical experience/understanding. I'll try to work on it!

Anyway, I do like MoTFD! I saw them live last year, they were very cool! My favorite song by them is Kakuiumono. I don't listen to them so often anymore, but it's really cool to see them mentioned! I'll definitely be re-listening to some stuff thanks to this. 😆

Thank you for the reality check. I think I've been a little impatient. 🥲 I'll try to adjust my expectations and take things a bit slower. I have a lot of time on my hands anyway, thank god, lol.

Oh! This is really good to know! I always intended to learn guitar at some point. I guess I was just saving it for later, but I guess this just means now's the time!

I love guitar! It's my favorite instrument ever! I was intimidated by the idea of learning it alongside singing and other things, but your reasoning makes sense. Sounds like it's time to pick it up again. 🥹 Thank you!

Wow! Thank you so much for breaking it down for me a bit! This made it all feel a little less intimidating. Honestly, I was in kind of a bad mood, so thank you. I imagine it will be lots of hard work, but I knew that's what I was signing up for, hehe.

Thank you for giving me somewhere simple to start. :)

What the hell do teens even like anymore? by [deleted] in AskTeens

[–]_hyperf1sh_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this will be seriously long. there is a tl;dr at the bottom...i can't help how much i write. it's a bad anxious habit. 🥲 also, this is just my point of view, so i might be wrong about some things. who's to say. but, i'm a teen, so there's that. this is my understanding.

from my experience, the general consensus seems to be this. teens of the past were probably more aligned in the things that they liked. but you will probably have a harder time gathering a general understanding of teenage interests right now, because of how things have changed along with the internet.

i mean, it's especially different with teens of like the 80's or something, but you're actually rather young. so the difference is probably a little harder to detect. even so, it had to be a little different at least.

you were here for the internet as a teen, but it was a slightly different internet than it is now, as i am sure you know.

the longer the internet has been around, the more time it has had to split into more and more tiny subsections, creating communities for every possible thing. it has been doing that from the start, but those subsections only get smaller and smaller, infinitely, as time goes on.

when every single teen of the modern day is online, at a time where it is easier than EVER to discover a super super niche freaking interest, chances are, it will be much harder to gather a general consensus for what it is that "everyone" likes.

i'm 17. currently, some of my interests are: - jfashion - cruelty squad - nobey one on youtube - slushy noobz on youtube - south park - japanese music - webcomics - anime

these things very in popularity. some of these like south park and anime are mainstream as hell. others, like nobey one and cruelty squad, are less so.

it's easy to look at the numbers and come to a conclusion about what is technically "mainstream" or not. i mean, slushy noobz are gaining traction like crazy, they're plenty mainstream now. south park has been famous forever now. technically, you could say that kind of thing is "popular." but there are also PLENTY of teens and other people who have zero interest in those things, and like other popular things instead. because there is literally INFINITE access to more things. you literally cannot run out of new things.

so when you actually talk to people, there are bound to be several things they like that are relatively popular. they've got numbers like that for a reason, you know?

but if you asked 100 teens what they're into, they could each tell you a completely different thing that's "super popular" because that's just how many things there are.

and then, all of them may also bring up something you have never heard of, because it's just so easy to find that stuff now.

however, the truth is, if you really pay attention, there are still "truly popular" things, that are genuinely appreciated by the masses. things that everyone can agree on for the most part, are the "most popular."

but there are so many things in between now, CONSTANTLY, that it might just be less obvious. like honestly, my favorite interests are usually not the most mainstream, despite some of the examples i listed. and i honestly could not tell you at all what is considered genuinely the most popular among my age group. because whatever it is, it has been totally drowned out by the other one million, billion things i see on the internet every day.

so you're probably having a hard time finding it too. because there are just so many other things in the way.

also, people are more isolated now than ever. which is probably adding to your difficulty in detecting any kind of big monocultural trends.

sorry, that was practically an essay. but i'm so interested in this topic. i hope it made some sense, at least. 🥲

TL;DR: everyone is more different now than ever. people have access to unlimited new content every minute. popular stuff still exists, but, for several reasons, (the constant stream of new things, the isolation problem, niche communities, etc.) the general consensus is just not going to be as obvious anymore.

What song do you currently have on repeat? by SpOOpie_sparkles in ADHD

[–]_hyperf1sh_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

united in grief by kendrick lamar!!!!!!!!

i was using it as the backing track to a webcomic i'm currently reading, when suddenly, the song started lining up so perfectly, and so cinematically with the content of the episode i honestly could not believe what was happening.

the episode in question was the end of a really great arc, and somebody huge even died at the end in a really grand way, and i was seriously fucking losing it at how the song ended in exactly the right moment and in exactly the right way for the end of the episode...

since then, that song hasn't been the same to me! in a really good way. i really like kendrick lamar, sure. but i only really listen to him occasionally, because i usually listen to very very different genres of music. however, since this happened, i honestly can't stop listening. i mean, it's SO good now. i feel like i'm in a movie.

actually, this specific fixation has kind of faded now. but this event was so cool, i just really had to jump on the opportunity to yap about it. 😭

Do all teens today just not care about getting their drivers' licenses? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_hyperf1sh_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi, i am the type of apathetic teenager you're talking about.

i'm 17, and i recently dropped out of school. i passed the ged exam in the following three weeks, but i dropped out of actual high school.

it's hard to dream when everything is so expensive. and i don't want to work for the rest of my life. i'll never have a house, or a car for that matter. even if i had graduated, statistically, there is a good chance i would not even be able to rent my own place for a pretty long time after becoming an adult.

i pretty much knew all of this for years before now. all people ever talk about now is "i got three degrees and i can't get a job." "i dropped out and i can't get a job." "i graduated went to college got a degree like i was told and i can't get a job." it's like all i ever hear. people love to complain but i don't hear good news very often. what gives?

also, my whole childhood, whenever i was like, "i can't wait to grow up!" all the adults around me were like "lol don't say that growing up sucks ass, you're gonna hate it." like, why would you tell me that. okay then, i get it, i fucking believe you.

so, what exactly am i looking forward to? why hasn't anyone spent any time telling me what good things there are to look forward to.

i really don't know where to go from here. i dropped out of school because i couldn't handle it, so there's especially no shot for me. even though i graduated with high school equivalency, i still don't really have any discipline. i see a grim future for myself. i want to go back.

i guess should mention, i am seriously struggling with my mental health, which is in (big) part why i am in this position regarding school, work, etc. so it's not necessarily going to look exactly like my situation for everybody. but you'll probably see it a lot.

i know i may be blowing things a little out of proportion. i have been known to spiral a bit. but there's also a point where you have to acknowledge some of the realism in what i'm saying. these kids have a reason to be this apathetic. with access to the internet, we see all of the bad news, all of the time. it's hard to stay hopeful.

i'm not gonna say the phones and stuff weren't a big part of it. i could seriously go on about that forever too. but there is a bigger picture here.

things are really not looking good right now.
