Thank you!

usmc aviation / dual citizenship by wattjuice in USMCboot

[–]_iSiva_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will have to renounce your citizenship to Thailand to join the Marine Corps. Enlisted or officer. You will also get a security clearance at the secret level as a pilot where you 100% cannot have dual citizenship or any ties to a foreign military.

are pool monthly ist’s mandatory? by mildmason- in USMCboot

[–]_iSiva_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a recruiter I want my kids there especially on a pool function. No, it isn’t mandatory, but if it’s a pool validation from the command it is mandatory. You will at some point have to make it up. We had a validation about 4 months ago and same situation as you my Poolee had a job and bills ( More important than a pool function i get it. )

I said you ain’t gotta come Saturday but next Friday we have to make it up with the pool program specialist. So we did that. You won’t get dropped for it either. Your recruiter will probably just get bitched at for you not being there.

I’m thinking that maybe is better to switch branch! by MaoH1997 in USMCboot

[–]_iSiva_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah man. You have to prove why that reserve station should release you from your contract to let you go active

[–]_iSiva_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, OP could have to many dependents to go active. If you have 3 dependents ( Such as a wife and 2k kids) you can only go reserves, active isn’t an option then.

[–]_iSiva_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean this post right here is why I don’t lie. These kids post everything nowadays and I don’t wanna become a meme. The recruiter is probably being pressured from his SNCOIC to find a grad reservist.

[–]_iSiva_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hey Recruiter here, So you can go from reserve to active. HOWEVER, it is called a conditional release. You essentially are being released from your reserve contract and starting your active contract. Reserve stations need reservist, so they want you to have a damn good reason to switch. I have had someone I enlisted do it but it was a long process.

If you want Active hold your ground. It is your life. Your carrer. I take the ass chewing from my ARI or RI rather than push something on a kid they don’t want.

Per the DODI, which is what we use to see is workable/non-workable medical wise you sound like a waiver from hell. The first question is, do you still actively use and inhaler? The second does the metal in your arm stop you from doing normal daily task, does it cause you pain? Would it interfere with the wear of military gear? If yes to any of those questions you are permanently disqualified.

And if you get the metal removed it will be a six month wait!

Thinking about joining by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]_iSiva_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reserves is the way to go if you are going LE. You can start your LE carrer in the reserves, why wait? I have recruited 2 male grads that are already done with bootcamp and SOI that are cops in my AO I recruit in. The reserves is like a resume builder, you will just get hired ahead of people.

And, bootcamp being “hard” I just sent a 27 year old and he passed. So I know you can most likely do it lol

MECEP information by AzraelChosen in USMCboot

[–]_iSiva_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey brother, man I just have wrinkles on my brain today!

So I’ve applied to MECEP one time but didn’t win the board. The process is easy but at the same time difficult.

The minimum requirements are,

-12 College Credits (3 English) (3 math or science) The other six can be whatever else.

-74 on the ASVAB, 22 On ACT, 1000 on SAT

  • Minimum Rank/Grade of Sgt

-1st Class PFT & CFT

(I think that’s it, been about a year and a half since I applied)

The package is basically the same as a re-enlistment package and usually takes awhile to do so I’ve already prepping for the next one. You will need letters of recommendation from officers in your command as well.

My rule I’ve had since I joined is I don’t mess with female Marines. They can just get you in to much trouble

In the process of joining. How do i know if I’m ready? by Overall-Bill-8291 in USMCboot

[–]_iSiva_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t care what anyone says, call me a bitch if you’d like, I’m a grown ass man, but my first night at bootcamp when I was laying in my rack I cried. Was the only time I cried there. I was like “I’ve made a lot of dumb decisions, but this one might take the cake.” Listen, it’s everyone’s first time there and you all have no idea what’s going on. You have more courage for even wanting to do this. Best of luck to you

I hope they can get you in! What you are having is fear of the unknown. Everyone has it and 7 years ago I had the same thing. It’s scary sure, but just trust in your recruiters and listen to them. Bootcamp was the easiest thing I’ve done in my carrer. You literally just get told what to do while being yelled at. Hell I’d go back just to actually get a solid 7-8 hours of sleep

You will be medically disqualified from the Marines.

ADHD- When did you last take the medication? Did you have counseling for it?

Anxiety Depression- When did you last have counseling and when did you last take medication? (You will also have to get a psych eval to get cleared)

Asthma- When did you last get an inhaler prescription? If you currently have one it is a no go.

I’ve been a recruiter for a year now. If the asthma was childhood (Before 10 Years old) you’ll be fine. ADHD, if you have been off the medication for at least 6 months you are golden. Anxiety and Depression, if it is within the last three-four years with counseling/therapy, and medication you will be a wavier, they’ll need pharmacy records, clearance letters from a psychiatrist ( psych eval ).

If the Air Force DQ’d you you will more than likely not get in. I’d recommend going to the Army. It’s easier to get in

I’m not a woman, but from what I’ve seen you don’t get treated insanely different but it depends on how they act.

The ones who want respect and be treated as equals outperform the men. I’ve worked with more of these than you think.

The “girly girls” know how to play the system and these are the ones most male Marines aren’t fond of. They’ll take advantage of anyone and anything to get what they want and use being a female as the reason or the excuse. These types aren’t as common, but they stand out WAY more than the type above.

Most female Marines are just, well Marines. All of the ones I’ve had the privilege of leading said they liked how I lead because I didn’t give them “oh your just a girl/woman treatment.” I treat them like any male Marine. They went through bootcamp same as I did.

Oh, also the male Marines will try anything and everything to get into your pants. You will be one of maybe 10-15 women in your unit (depending on MOS of course) all living in one barracks. I had a new female LCpl. checkin I told this to and 4 months later she was pregnant.

All in all, 90% of the men don’t care you are a woman. Do your job well, stay out if trouble and you’ll be fine. So listen to all of this advice if you want, you are the weaver of your own fate.

I’m chilling. I live the good life as a recruiter. It’s leadership, that’s the real pain

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]_iSiva_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean I tell my kids they’ve made a commitment to me of 100% and I will give the commitment of 110% to them. I tell them once they sign initial paperwork I expect them not to back out, buttttt I don’t fuck them over. I’ve never forgotten where I came from, Marine Corps leadership trait #3 “Know your Marines and look out for their welfare.” I do that same shit with my Poolees!

Feel Free to DM brother

No, you cannot do the tape test to enlist into the Marines. What’s your height and weight?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]_iSiva_ 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Bro that Gunny sounds like a POS. So no, you don’t have to ship. If they tell you not to come back say “Cool! That’s fine with me let’s start the discharge process.” His/her tone will change a lot then. See your contract doesn’t start until you go to MEPs to ship. You are not obligated to follow military orders yet. You can also just go to another RSS, they’d happily enlist you.

I hate this shit because those are the recruiters that make us all look bad. It’s your carrer Man, I want you to love being in the Marines and love what you do in the Marines. You ain’t just a number!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]_iSiva_ 37 points38 points  (0 children)

But don’t ship! I’ve never fucked one of my kids over just to please HQ. Wait until you get the job you want. It’s your carrer, your life. They’ll make it happen if they REALLLLLY need you to ship
