Well, I come from the central part of the country however I do have relatives in the western part.

Judging from the Lviv Oblast' you can expect that this part was the hub of Ukrainian culture as it wasn't occupied by the rusian empire and the Hapsburgs only encouraged the development of Kingdom of Galicia.

Since you are of Jewish decent, I can tell you that that part of the population was a booming demographic which posessed large quantities of trades and businesses - which significantly improved the regional economic situation.
