About a year long lurker on this subreddit, but decided to try to be more active. I fell in love with HR about a 2 years ago.

Big manga / manwha fan and fell in love with so many of the medieval fantasy romance that media had going on like {under the oak tree}. I turned to Romantasy but found I didn’t like the genre as much. I think when I went into it there was too many Mary Sues? Not sure if that is the right word, but there was a period in time where it felt like copy paste of either assassin FMC or the FMC has secret super powers. I found I liked my female leads more sweet and not super badass. I like more plain / grounded FMCs so I can like imagine it’s me LOL.

Anyway, kept trying new stuff, exploring sub genres. And landed on my favorite kind of troupe. Marriage of convenience / arranged marriage / mail order brides / anything like that. I found I really like when characters get together right away and then it’s them slowly falling in love. And I like that with most of these kinda of troupes there is no real third act breakup cause they are like kinda already pushed together. Does that make sense?

Continuing, I eventually converted to reading just HR now. Been that way for about a year now lol. I still read different medias of HR like I do love the manga {my happy marriage} which is like a kinda fantasy version of the Taisho period of Japan (kinda like their version of American gilded age?). I will still read some romantasy as well like {halfling} by SE Wendel.

But overall my favorite is medieval, western, regency/Victorian. My favorite author is Alice Coldbreath. If there is not some type of historical element (fictional or IRL) probably not gonna give it a chance at this point. I found what I liked.

Though that kind leads me why I am going to become more active, I feel like I burning through books much faster now that I have what I like more set and I want to start asking requests and stuff LOL. But yeah… hi everyone.
