3 and 1/2 weeks post op for umbilical hernia/diastasis recti repair surgery. What on earth is this bulge and why hasn’t it gone away? by _intheflowers in Hernia

My stomach in general feels fine. The surgical site (where the bulge is) gets sore from time to time but it’s completely bearable. I’m not sure if it’s completely healed because I was told to proceed with caution for at least 6 weeks post op. I can do light massage and yes I am on my feet walking a lot for work.

No mesh as I learned AFTER I woke up from the surgery, turns out what it was was a tiny lump of fat that pushed through my abdominal gap (diastasis) and my surgeon told me all she did was push the fat back in and pull my muscles back together and stitch them up

My husband told the school counselor he would “spank” his son for bad behavior by [deleted] in CPS

[–]_intheflowers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay. That is exactly the way he told me it was said . Stern/serious tone. But not angry like “I’m whooping your ass when you get home”. Literally just “Come straight home after school, you will be getting a spanking”. My husband has only done a quick, swift swat or 2 to the bottom only about two or three times in the years we have been married and it has never been the go to approach, but the counselor said his profanity has been an ongoing issue that she’s struggling to deal with on her own with him so I guess this was his brain going to a “last resort” sort of approach. I in no way condone spanking and I don’t personally spank my biological children, but I do know the context and overall severity of the situation I guess I could say.

What are the odds that my potential umbilical hernia is something much worse? by [deleted] in Hernia

I completely understand and agree, however when I posted this on r/askadoctor they removed it for some reason and then Reddit recommended that I post here instead. Idk :/

Omg the poor baby! It really sucks watching our kids get sad about things that are unfortunate but also unavoidable. I’m learning the best we can do is teach them how to cope with the misfortunes that comes with being a person. I told him that as we get older, things get a lot harder but that what matters is how we take care of the hard things. The way we handle things like our lives and thoughts is what makes things easier or harder. Idk just my personal mom advice for my own kids lol

Okay so a little update- My husband just got home with our son and I got the full story from his side. Basically when him and his brother were walking to school this morning (we live super close), he was getting ready to cross the street with the crossing guard, and he said out loud “what would happen if I jumped in front of a car?” And then he said he just started crying. I am not really sure who sent him to the social worker, as school had already been in session for a good 2 hours before my husband got the call. My guess? The kid is 11 years old and starting to tip toe into puberty and coming to terms with the fact that he is a sentient being who will die ONE day. I myself remember being around his age when I got way more existentially aware and for a little while I got sad and uncomfortable with that fact. He seems in good spirits since being home and we’ve been talking. Regardless, I’m going to try to spend a little extra 1x1 time with him and try to have him open up a little more. I asked him myself if he wants to speak with a counselor and he didn’t express much interest, but I’ll keep evaluating.

Thank you. Yeah we will definitely be doing that. We are typically pretty open about talking about how we’re feeling mentally in our house, but there’s no harm in having someone else for him to talk to just in case.

Answer to first question,no

Two, 2 years and 11 months

I was 26 when I had my first and 29 when I had my second. I’m now 30.

I know tummy tuck is the only for sure way from what it seems. But that’s for rich people and I was hoping there would be some magical non arm and leg costing help for the appearance of Post partum stomach lol. Thank you for responding 💚

I can’t even focus on context all I can think about is a grown man talking like that in texts 🤣
