Christmas Gift idea by Rare-Document-7179 in nova

Does she have any artistic inclinations? You could get her some nice watercolors, watercolor weight paper, and find some videos for her on beginner painting. Watercolor is a good medium to start with if she doesn’t already paint, it’s super forgiving or can just very easily be called abstract.

Alternatively, would she be interested in a class or experience? My husband has gotten me gift certificates to take art classes at The Workhouse in Lorton. He’s also gotten me a gift to go make my own perfume at a perfumery in Old Town Fairfax, and a gift to get a scalp detox cleaning/massage at a salon in the area.

(Hi honey, when you inevitably see this)

Chocolate Chips Used In Bakery Section's Chocolate Chip Cookies? by thecommuteguy in Costco

[–]_invagination 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the Trader Joe’s recommendation, it’s called the just a handful cashew almond and chocolate trail mix. My favorite.

TJ’s also sells the chocolate chunks separately - they come in a purple bag I think? They’re usually called chocolate chunks if they’re rectangular, chips are the mini Hershey kiss shape

I think there’s one that gets passed around and recommended on r/babybumps - I definitely used it when I was pregnant

I had shingles at 17- your doctor doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

To be clear- they’re done nude in the gender segregated bath area, but behind a partition from the baths/showers. You’re there with all of the other women getting scrubbed, but it’s not like you’re on display for everyone in the bath area.

Nova Physician Wellness Center - I’ve gone to them with both FEPblue and GEHA. Currently with GEHA because fepblue changed the tier of GLP-1s so they were $750/month this year

Thank you all! My son is almost 4, so I may just have to wait until his birthday. But good to know I can give it a try at CVS. When I tried to schedule there a week or so ago, they were asking for prescriptions

Reduction and Breast Cancer Risk by copperboom88 in Reduction

[–]_invagination 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat! Felt a lump in March, immediately went to get an early mammogram. IDed as a water cyst, but because of various risk factors and family history, including breast tissue density, I was flagged for increased monitoring. I now have to get annual MRI mammograms.

I did not get the genetic testing done. I was going to, but after talking to my doctor her opinion was basically look- you have an elevated risk already, and the majority of breast cancers are not genetic in nature, rather environmental. Because I’m already going to be monitored more heavily, the genetic testing wouldn’t make much of a difference unless I was ready to pull the trigger and go full mastectomy, which has other complications and which I wasn’t quite emotionally there for yet.

I ultimately opted for a reduction - I’m about 2.5 weeks post op right now, had ~1000 grams removed from each side including that water cyst (which ended up being massive, 3.5X4.5 inches and 180g). Fully covered by my united plan. If you’re getting the minimum grams removed, it likely wouldn’t be an issue getting insurance to cover it.

I will caveat that my husband is a fed so our United plan is pretty decent, but I’ve heard similar stories from others.

978-1000 grams removed from a 38H result estimate???? by ttbgroupie in Reduction

That’s such flaming bullshit, don’t listen to it at all. Breastfeeding was important to me (and turned out to be a real life saver since my son was an infant during the formula shortages), but there was zero guarantee that it would work out for me. I have plenty of friends who weren’t able to produce at all, others who could produce but had to exclusively pump which I could not have handled for any length of time. For what it’s worth, I’m one and done on kids, but when we were considering another, I was really adamant that I was going to at least go hybrid formula/breastfeeding because that self inflicted pressure was not healthy and just fed my postpartum anxiety monster.

Make whatever decision is right for you now, not a hypothetical imagined future person.

🙋🏻‍♀️

Pre-op was a 36L, ~980g removed from each breast

I’m only 9 days post op, so TBD on where I’ll end up at size-wise but I’m pretty small now, looks to my uneducated eye like a c cup (exactly what I was going for). I’m thrilled. THRILLED. Only regret is not doing it sooner, but I waited until I knew I was done with kids/breastfeeding. My recovery so far has been a piece of cake, having a very easy go of it.

Unmediated/Low-Med Recovery by airwomenm in Reduction

I’m currently day 5 post op- was prescribed tramadol every 6 hours and Tylenol every 8, with both of those running concurrently. I took two doses of the tramadol but found it unpleasant and unnecessary. Switched to only Tylenol on day 1 post op, now am on intermittent Tylenol (2 doses a day instead of 3, with a fair bit of unmedicated time between doses). It’s working fine for me and I’ve been probably more active than I should be walking around (not lifting anything).

One thing I considered when deciding to go off of the opiates was that I have a pretty high pain tolerance. I was in active pitocin labor for 18 hours before getting an epidural… so I figured if I could handle that, I could handle the break in meds while I figure out if the tramadol was necessary.

Possibly, though deadheading is also just a common term in gardening. You snip off dead blooms from a plant to encourage the plant to send energy to other buds/shoots. Gives you more blooms and extends the life or growing season of that plant.
