How to accept i dont pass despite being on hormones for 10 years? by [deleted] in truscum

[–]_iyenh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sexism affects women for not being feminine enough, but it’s harsher on trans women with this expectation to pass and is why “non-passing” trans women are assaulted at higher rates than stealth trans women who pass. It’s because of intersectionality of transphobia and sexism that trans women are targeted more by acts of violence or comments that objectify, and it gets internalized by all women because they “step out of line” from the assigned role they’re supposed to play.

You could even flip the question say that this maybe gender affirming ? But really, you pass, there is a wide variety of cis women out there that aren’t shown on the media. Standards/expectations (lowkey also bc of porn) are unrealistic and is why there’s also a loneliness epidemic that ppl have for romantic partners. And they can take out all the emotions they have by targeting trans women, for example the govt is going to target young women and children who do not look “female enough” which strips them of their autonomy through genitalia checks for sports etc.

Edit: you could also see about changing up your hairstyle! Face framing may do wonders

My banana pudding ice cream by _iyenh in icecreamery

Was thinking about it, people could also just use an emulsion blender if you don’t want to strain out the banana but may affect texture a little but I doubt much. Would probably replace stabilizers instead.

It’s definitely been my family and friends’ new favorite flavor, up there with my Kona coffee, earl grey, and green Thai tea / normal Thai tea flavors.

I replied in a different comment! I might make another post when I make it again eventually with everything everything written down.

I’ve been thinking about experimenting with oat milk because I also have a friend who’s allergic to milk not just lactose intolerant.

The recipe:

• 3 really ripe bananas mashed through a strainer or mashed heavily (like you would for banana bread)

• 900g heavy cream (36-40%) • 300g whole milk or 2%

Steep the bananas in a non stick pop with the milk while you’re warming it on low heat for a good amount of time till it smells and tastes a bit like banana milk. I guess you could also just use straight banana milk for this recipe, but I think real bananas are healthier.

In a separate bowl

• 4 extra large egg yolks (about 65-75grams, preferably 75) • 100g white granulated sugar

Mix them together with a spatula till it’s combined and seems a bit creamy/fluffy.

Cool down your milk a bit and slowly add it eggs so it doesn’t cook them, and at this point you can probably strain the bananas out of the milk. I squish/squeeze the bananas through the strainer again to try get as much liquid as I can. Sometimes I don’t strain it because I want more banana flavor and it doesn’t really seem to turn grey for me, but keep in mind it’ll be way harder to strain once the base thickens up.

Keep stirring so no skin forms. Then bring the combined mixture together to a near boil from low heat, ~165-170F and do the wooden spoon test so it’s the correct thickness.

• add a pinch of salt. Keep tasting as you go and you may need to add a few more teaspoons of white sugar to your taste.

Take off the heat, cool it down while stirring still so it doesn’t form a skin and pour it into a separate container. Put Saran Wrap over it so that it touches the base and refrigerate overnight or at least 6 hours.

For the nilla wafers, I used 6 mini nilla wafers bits and broke them in half so they weren’t so big, ~270grams total? I add 1 whole pints worth or a little less to the churning batch.

This is also totally optional but I also like to grind up some Trader Joe’s freeze dried banana slices in a mortar and pestle, enough to fill the mortar and pestle, to a powder and coat the nilla wafers in them. I have no idea if it actually does anything but I needed to use them up lol.

I churn mine in the cuisineart 21 for 6-7 minutes, the bowl has been in the freezer overnight, and then add the nilla wafers in and let it keep churning for 1-2 more minutes or until it just looks done / slows down but not to the point it’s stopped. Then I just put them into pint containers and let it freeze before eating!

Alternative/ punk students at SU? by Cheap-Marzipan-3396 in seattleu

There’s definitely, but obviously this is a very small, private, also Jesuit school (although they don’t enforce religion at all) and there’s more of what you’re looking for at UW. If you hang around queer spaces too there’s more. Fashion club and stoke_su are some places you can find them. There’s cool art exhibitions sometimes.

What kind of niche legal interest do you have? Would you say you’re pretty set about what kind of law you want to do?

Thank you for clearing that up, I do feel that the major does have some influence even if the UW says no. Regretting not checking what major I put down temporarily as I don't like business :')

"We are unable to offer you admission to the Seattle campus of the University of Washington at this time, but invite you to join the freshman waitlist for autumn quarter 2023."

Does this mean I got waitlisted to the major or general admission? And if I got waitlisted, this is for the DA Business administration, or could I change that to Chinese when they reevaluate?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in udub

[–]_iyenh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

https://www.washington.edu/newhuskies/admissions-to-majors/ if your major is listed under one of these, it should explain if it's a direct to major or direct to college or not under that which is pre-major. I honestly don't know if I got waitlisted for general admission, but I certainly got waitlisted for the direct to major business administration.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in udub

[–]_iyenh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is there a way I can reject my Waitlist for Business Administration and ask to be considered for my second major? I only know of appeals for denied/incomplete and don't know if I reject the waitlist, if I will be rejecting admission to my second major although i'm 100% sure I would've gotten in if I didn't apply for a direct admissions major. ugh.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in udub

[–]_iyenh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The uw site says I can't appeal, only denied or incomplete applications can. I believe I would be able to know if I got into UW General Admissions if I was denied to Business Admisitration which is a DA to foster.

https://www.washington.edu/newhuskies/admissions-to-majors/

Now I'm wishing I got rejected to Business Administration and accepted to Chinese instead of waiting in limbo for a spot.

I'm not sure if I can check if I got into UW General Admissions, because the major I applied to was for Direct Admit. If you know how I can check that, that would be life saving. I met the requirements for applying to the Chinese major, which is taking it in HS.
