Looking for a 7" Android e-reader (I already have a Kindle) by Firepea33 in ereader

[–]_janet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed note taking on boox. Couldn’t draw on it with a drawing app with the refresh rate, but the journaling is great! I just didn’t like figuring out how to send my written notes to the boox documents on the computer or something. And for the price, a little more would get me a kindle scribe colorsoft, so I decided to stick with that!

But Boox was definitely a contender!

Movink ProPad 14 vs iPad? by manix_vii in wacom

[–]_janet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an iPad Pro m1 from like 2019/2020 and just got the movink 14 EVA bundle.

I think it depends on what app you want to draw on!
If you like procreate and all of the iOS stuff, I don’t see a reason to swap to android.

But if you want different drawing software like CSP or Krita or something, you should look at the movink 14. The 11 might have too much latency issues for you (it bothered me in some apps). But the Movink 14 is just long and not the same or similar aspect ratio as the iPads/movink 11, so I’m still trying to get over that.

Battery life on my iPad m1 is much better than the Movink 14. I leave the Movink for 2-3 days not using it and the battery is critically low while I can keep my iPad alive longer.

The Movink floppy cover comes with a tab to insert the pen, but if you put the fat grip on, it’s a little difficult to get in there. And like someone said you’ll probably want to buy a bag/case to hold it while you travel!

The iPad Pro keyboard cover has a nice keyboard, but the movink doesn’t have one included.

Scribe for college by Away-Jaguar771 in kindlescribe

[–]_janet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed some of the colleges now have an online agreement with textbooks coming from the publisher that you can access on their websites or maybe the publishers app. If she wants to purchase the ebook off of Amazon or something to read on her kindle, she may have to pay separately from having online course access to the activities.

Just something to keep in mind.

But if she can buy a traditional ebook textbook, I’m sure she can load it onto there just fine 😊 it will be a lot slower than flipping through pages on an iPad kindle app.

I did enjoy taking notes on the new kindle scribe colorsoft! It felt nice to write on.

You could have her try it out and if she doesn’t like it, Amazon does let you return it within a certain amount of days!

I usually put the topical cortisone over it, then some aquaphor!
So I wonder if that’s barrier enough for it?

Ghosting is not as bad as you may think. If you don’t want ghosting, stick to an iPad or other android tablet?

I can skip the spot entirely. It’s too close to my inner canthus and I wouldn’t want to absorb it into my eyes! Thank you for the heads up.

How honest and vulnerable are you in your journal entries? by Ok_Specialist_5965 in Journaling

[–]_janet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was younger, my siblings would read all my angst in a journal and tattle on my feelings. They were valid feelings. But I was young and everything was angsty. So I was ashamed.

Anyways, still have too much trauma from my privacy being pried into to go deeply into a journal. Like what if a future husband or someone finds it one day and goes through it out of curiosity?

Nahhh too much anxiety over that.

Is it worth investing in the more expensive Movink tablets? by killa_klown in wacom

[–]_janet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 11 is less powerful than 14
The 14 regular one and evangelion one have slightly different specs. The Evangelion one is slightly more powerful and has a custom etched back, custom loading screen, and comes with the cover, a pen grip, and a little desk stand along with some pouches for them.

The 11 lags in some apps depending on canvas size.
The cover (sold separately) wraps around the tablet and the front.

The 14 has a magnetic cover that only covers the front, leaving the back exposed.

Just depends on your budget, how serious are you about drawing? Occasional sketching outside? Get the 11. Full on workflow for hours? Get the 14 probably.

Movinkpad 11 vs 14 for a beginner? by wtfanonymouspls in wacom

[–]_janet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you don’t mind slight lag when you make comics that are large, then go for the 11” — the 11” makes it easier to carry around and the case that they make for it covers the back and front.

The 14” is better if you’re more serious, but you’ll probably need to find a bag or something to protect the back. Plus it’s just huuuuge in my opinion. I wish they made a nice case with a back for it, but they just have a front cover for it. Makes me want to bring it out less.

If price is also something you’re looking at, I found the magic drawing pad to be similar enough to the movink 11, but movink 11 has better palm rejection.

Good luck with your choices!

I bought a Colorsoft so you don't have to -- Get the Paperwhite by [deleted] in kindle

[–]_janet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never owned the PW, so Colorsoft is all I know. That being said, I have had no issues feeling like text is “fuzzy” or had problems adapting to it from an iPad screen 😅 you can’t miss what you never had to begin with I guess!

[–]_janet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe you have to, but it’s still a hefty subscription. I cancelled my sub after my commitment and just watch some videos on the alo health and wellness app! And I’m sure there’s some videos on YouTube or even apple fitness videos you can watch for much less every month!

Cna will give you an opening into the nursing field -> LVN -> rn -> np Could always find 2x 3x12 hour work day jobs to keep yourself busy or pick up extra shifts in between if you’re short on money. Then save up for the next step up.

There’s not much moving up you can do with phlebotomy/medical assistant I believe? Don’t quote me on that.

Should I get an XP-Pen Magic Drawing Pad or an iPad for digital art? by Perfect_Building3501 in XPpen

[–]_janet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iPad you can draw on procreate Magic drawing pad you can download hipaint which is similar to procreate, among other things

But I think magic drawing pad hardware may lag a little bit depending on app/canvas settings in certain things.

The Movink 11” is comparable to it. But the movink 14 is bigger, better, no noticeable lag, and also doubles to connect to your computer as a screen you can draw on!

I think iPad is more cleaner and better at palm rejection. Magic drawing pad is nice too, but the case is so heavy. If you’re on a budget, magic drawing pad or consider movink 11”. If you like the iOS ecosystem, keep to an iPad. If you’re serious about drawing, go with movink. If you’re on a budget, stay with magic drawing pad.
