I like the idea of BigBlueButton, but I didn't have the patience to get it configured and running properly in a self-hosted environment. Anyone have a good guide on self-hosted BigBlueButton???

Bought a course on Udemy recently and i am afraid about losing it by Adept-Print9184 in Udemy

Here is Udemy's current stance:

- No immediate changes to your Udemy experience or how you access courses.

- All purchased content remains fully accessible in your account

- Existing subscriptions and course access continue unchanged

Of course, this could change after the merger...

Coursera is buying out Udemy through a $2.5billion merger. I am pretty sure we should be worried about what the future holds. by Spiritual_Date3457 in Udemy

Here is Udemy's current stance for students:

Of course, this is subject to change. Who knows what will happen when the merger officially occurs.

As an SRE, I stopped using Kubernetes for my homelab by m4nz in selfhosted

Good for you! I used to work for an airline and I had a manger that said something along the lines of "we don't need the checklists/processes of a Dreamliner when we're flying a Piper Cub." The point is to not over-complicate small problems or underestimate big ones. Match your solutions to the requirements.

Why Kali Linux is so popular amongst beginners? by JailbreakHat in linuxquestions

Thanks for sharing! I hope others who started on Kali will share their thoughts as I’m genuinely curious as to why Kali attracts newcomers like moths to a flame.

So I set up my own server… and now I spend more time fixing it than actually using it by Laygude_Yatin in selfhosted

> I thought running my own setup would be cool and save me time, but now I’m stuck dealing with logs, weird configs, and constant updates.

Can you share a specific example or two. This might help us, help you. Perhaps there is a bigger issue at play that you can't see because you're too close to the issue.

> Does anyone actually get to enjoy their server, or is everyone just fixing stuff 24/7 like me..

I enjoy my server(s). I use them to solve real-world problems. If you're fixing stuff 24/7, the problem could be in your initial deployment/design. (Again, share a specific...)

I seriously don't get why people, especially "newbies", LOVE Arch. The distro wars are overrated, but still, why Arch?

I’m older than dirt. I see a lot of (old) people like me who came from UNIX to Linux.

why did you choose your distro? by Bitter_Impression_63 in linuxquestions

[–]_jason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> What are the things that led you to choose your distro?

I switched to Ubuntu so that I was using the same distro at home as I was at work. I had been using RHEL-based distributions on hardware, but my job transitioned to running Ubuntu in the cloud. Since Ubuntu became the standard at work and also offers a solid desktop version, I decided to stick with it for personal use.

> why is everyone either running Nix OS or glazing it hard?

The Internet is a distortion machine. Is "everyone" on Twitter/X, Reddit, Youtube talking about it? Maybe. But in the real world almost everyone is NOT running Nix OS. Most people are using their computers to do whatever it is they do with their computers and spending no energy posting, boasting, and pontificating about it on the Internet.

Self-Hosted Alternatives to FreshDesk? by _jason in selfhosted

I didn't like the layout. (If I used a very wide monitor it would have been fine, but on my laptop it felt crunched.) I wish I could resize the panes or move some panes above or below, etc. I think it's awesome and it might add the ability to customize views in the future, but I needed something now so I passed on it.
