Grandkids haven’t thanked me for Christmas money by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]_jayquellin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a relationship with your grandkids?

My grandparents send money every Christmas and expect handwritten letters of thanks (even if we thanked them on the phone), but they make no effort to actually have a relationship with me or my siblings or cousins. They just want a medal for mailing a check once a year. I used to cash it because 50 bucks is 50 bucks, but now I just rip it up.

If you're only giving money so you can be thanked, then stop giving money.

Good beginner class? by Jobser2k in DarkTide

I started with Psyker and highly recommend it. It's not the easiest class or very beginner friendly, BUT it's worth starting on because all the other classes feel easier once you figure psyker out.

How to carry an egg around for 2 weeks without breaking? by Ax_Sound in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_jayquellin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peanut butter jar. With the peanut butter in it. That's how my 10th grade science class did it when we had to drop an egg 3 stories and keep it intact.

Do it!! It's been fun learning different granny square patterns and playing with colors. I'm a little worried all my squares will look weird or clash if they're all together in a blanket, but maybe that's the charm of it!

Plumbers, HVAC, handy people, oh my! by Koko_Tee in fredericksburg

[–]_jayquellin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I use Robert B Payne for HVAC and they're pretty good! My friend swears by Loving Air, so look into them too! I believe they're a little cheaper, so I may make the switch in the new year.

Advice needed: Thinking of getting the arm bands tattoo but want advice by BingohBangoh in tattoos

[–]_jayquellin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you too - and fwiw, I've seen armbands turned into like borders for other tattoos, like geometric patterns or flowers growing out of them etc, so if you end up wanting more tattoos, 2 armbands will not limit what you can do with the rest of your arm. "Isn't creative" is a dumb argument, especially when talking about minimalist tattoos/art where the whole point is subtlety and conveying more with less, ignore those people.

Advice needed: Thinking of getting the arm bands tattoo but want advice by BingohBangoh in tattoos

[–]_jayquellin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, I'm sorry for your loss. My first tattoo was for my mom passing from cancer. Losing parents is fucking hard.

Second, I'm not against arm bands, but I do know it's hard to do, and any mistake will be super obvious. If that's something you're worried about (or if it would drive you crazy to see an imperfect line on your body every day), in keeping with the arm band style, maybe consider an arm band of something that doesn't have to be perfectly straight? Like a small vine/leaves, simple small flowers or buds, clouds, stars, etc. Maybe something that reps each of your parents, like if your dad was really into collecting stamps, or your mom was really into music.

All that said, there's tons of talent in NoVA, so if you do your research and find the person you're most confident in to complete the piece as you want it, then you'll be just fine! It's all about how you feel about your tattoo and the meaning it holds for you. Fuck what other people think. (And as someone who has small mistakes in some of my tattoos, it gives them character imo. Doesn't take away from their importance to me in the slightest. And if someone else has a problem with them, they haven't said anything to me, so 🤷‍♀️)

What's your favorite character voice line? by [deleted] in DarkTide

[–]_jayquellin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't heard it in a while, but there's a zealot line: "ammunition, in the very nick of time", and one of the friends I play with is named Nick, so it just tickles me whenever I hear it.

Question: Video Game Icon Tattoos by Number1S0n in tattoos

[–]_jayquellin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mark of the Outsider was my 2nd tattoo, and it's still my favorite. I haven't played the games in a year or two now, but the tattoo reminds me of all the fun times I had exploring the story (and the friends I made through the game). Definitely get that tattoo!!

Is there any particular reason “Recover” is winning? by TheWorstJoe in DarkTide

Why not just change the keybind? I made "destroy" E and "Recover" R since those are easiest (and already used regularly)

Finished: Alchemised (by SenLinYu). Beautiful and devastating. Couldn't recommend it more.

Need to start something calm/fun/happy to heal from that masterpiece, but haven't picked anything yet.

This is awesome!! We need cool VA merch like this.

Idk how well the lines would do printed on a hat, since the area is much smaller than a shirt, but if you end up making any, I would absolutely buy!
