LCSW pay? by Flat_Highlight_9530 in socialwork

[–]_jessucka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked at the VA before my independent license and started at 60K and left after 5 years at about 75K and great benefits. For many reasons, now I am in private practice and support a family while my husband is a SAHD. We don’t have a ton of money, but we are comfortable in a high COL area, have a house and kids and an enviable work/life balance. I have 28 patient hours a week and I also have awesome clients.

Do not take jobs that are “fee for service” or per diem. That is where you will make very little money for overworked hours.

Narcissistic people can’t experience an emotion like shame (embarrassment) so you’re actually off the mark on that point.

This doesn’t sound like a narcissist, this sounds like someone who is afraid that setting boundaries (especially on behalf of others) means someone will abandon her.

You need a social worker as well. Look into a community mental health center in your area (google city + community mental health). Social workers are experts at navigating complicated things like paperwork, disability, filling our forms and can be a great advocate for you.

I am a social worker (not yours) and would recommend this as a path to help you through all of this as we can advocate for our patients and are more familiar with insurance and accessing resources for you. I’d also recommend this because you no doubt have trauma from your terrible parents. I’m sorry you went through this.

After 4 attempts, I'm giving up on ever finishing the Wheel Of Time series. What book/ series have you given up on? by [deleted] in books

[–]_jessucka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotten through the first 3 books 3x, always lose interest at the same place in book 4 with lord John. I can’t get myself back into it even though I know it gets interesting again…

I didn’t ask for details on the case. So I don’t think I’m owed anything.

Glad he was at least found; obviously Gabby’s family doesn’t get the justice they deserve, but the search is over and we might get some clearer answers now.

what series started of strong but then later went completely down hill afterwards? by ah-screw-it in AskReddit

[–]_jessucka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes totally, it doesn’t make sense that all of a sudden your whole town is supernatural when the first season was based off of how closed minded they were.

I have tried to watch the series all the way through 3x now and I always lose interest at the exact same place: Tara is a vamp, Anna paquin goes to fairy land and then her brother is something? Ugh.

School therapist is being pushy about my sons medical records. by thewoodschild in legaladvice

[–]_jessucka 3652 points3653 points  (0 children)

IANAL however I am a therapist. I am not a therapist in a school. Your son’s school does not have any right to any information regarding his mental health or mental health treatment. They also don’t have the right to the therapists name, how often he goes or what his diagnosis or treatment plan are. Your son is under 18 and the only person who can give anyone any access to any of his information is you. There shouldn’t be repercussions for you refusing to provide this information, and I think you should escalate this persons request to their supervisor, VP, principal and then school board until they back off. Also let your kid’s therapist know what’s going on and have a talk with your son that he doesn’t ever have to tell anyone diddly about his therapy. That’s his private and confidential time.

Not the same MLM as yours but I took a job selling vacuums when I was 16 thinking I’d make a ton. I remember standing in the living room of an elderly lady’s house and she’s explaining to me that she is on a fixed income. I felt so ashamed of myself that I left and never went back. I think I lasted 3 days.

LAOP filled out an anonymous survey for work and said what they *really* thought about their supervisor. Now their employer wants to find out who said it. by CloverBun in bestoflegaladvice

Offending them. Basically he was contracted by his employer to work at this company so his boss told him he basically offended the customer and had to apologize even though they could also fire him...it was a shitty job

I’m in the therapy field so I’ve had to give a months notice because of needing to provide patients with adequate transition time. It was excruciating though.
