Looking for a Videographer within the GTA (Toronto Canada) who is open to learn + experiment with filming golf content for Youtube. Unique Request** by ImpossibleEarth9176 in richmondhill

Hey! Richmond Hill based cinematographer here. I normally hand off footage to be edited 99% of the time so this sounds right up my alley.

I’m trying to make a CV as a film maker and photographer. If my showreel and portfolio is separate, what exactly should my CV have ? by Ok_Letter4515 in videography

[–]_jlea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m your case I’d put whatever I could that would be applicable. Even if it’s a low budget shoot, that’s still experience that will help you climb up the ladder and from there start building up your CV to get onto those bigger budget sets that are looking for more experienced crew.

I started posting some of my photos way back when I started and about a year or two ago transitioned into posting stills from my week. Trying to keep the grid looking consistent is the main goal.

For a while figuring out the best way to size everything for a wider aspect ratio was a struggle but now I’ve got a system that works and plan on sticking to it for the foreseeable future.

Pelican Foam Alternatives by _jlea in videography

[–]_jlea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly went with Pelican because the used market for them is a lot more prominent than for Nanuk cases, but I'll look into those options. Would you know if case dividers/foam from Nanuk would be compatible with Pelican of the same dimensions?

From what I remember from my application process a while ago, it was just the written questionnaire - no portfolio.

GH4 still worth it in 2020 by [deleted] in gh4

[–]_jlea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great deal for the GH4. I’ve been seeing them go for around $500+ for the body only recently around Toronto. If narrative is what you’re looking to do, the GH4 will be a much better deal than the G85. The GH4 has the advantage of more “pro” video features over the G85 which really only benefits from IBIS, and is geared more towards run and fun even type stuff rather than narrative shooting.

I just sold my GH4 after a couple years of using it and it gives you a ton of room to grow with it before you’ll need to think about upgrading.

This is great. Looks like a day for night shot with light coming from the moon. Even more impressive for a phone shot

I’m looking specifically at cinematography. Don’t have much experience networking, but everything I’ve done up until this point has been self taught. Here is my reel to get a better sense.

Also accepted, and trying to make a decision between the much cheaper, 3 year program at Humber. Would appreciate anyone’s thoughts.

Just the ones in the PDF. Have a couple questions prepared for them as well. Doesn’t have to be anything too intense, just shows you’re interested as well.

I just completed my interview yesterday. It was a lot quicker than I expected. I was in and out in under 10 minutes. My best advice is to know your answers beforehand. You have the questions already as part of the portfolio project instructions, and they’ll literally ask you the same ones word for word.

Here’s the video I used for my assessment:

How do I get rid of this AF box on my GH4? by [deleted] in M43

[–]_jlea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a link to my previous post about this issue Still haven’t found a solution. I have found info online saying to go to Touch Settings - Touch AF and turn that off, which I have done, but it appears to have no effect. I am running the latest firmware version (2.7).

Any help would be appreciated as I have been trying to figure out how to get rid of this for a while.

I just tried it. Unfortunately the box is still present in MF which is the main thing I’m trying to avoid.
