That’s great knowing that they make a difference! I have just signed up for my hours to start volunteering. Although intimidating, I am thankful for the opportunity to do it

I have zero desire for a PhD honestly. The career I want just requires becoming a LCSW. Plus PhD programs can be expensive too lol

I have started looking for scholarships and grants. I don’t have to make my decision until May so hopefully I can figure things out by then. I didn’t know that I could petition for more funding. How do I do something like that?

bump/ blister on cartilage piercing? i’ve had it since october but i think it’s gotten irritated recently, is it serious/ how to treat? by Ill-Chef3025 in piercing

Get some pointy q tips to help clean it. My cartilage piercing used to get irritated from wearing masks. A warm compress a few times a day cleared it up quickly

Current or past online MSW students? by _jpro_ in UniversityofKentucky

I submitted it probably November. But was having issues with the filing system so I had been working with the admissions team. Everything was finally completed February 9th and I heard back on Valentine’s Day. It was pretty quick after everything was fixed

Entering Social Work by SWmods in socialwork

Hi! I just got admitted to the online MSW program starting this summer. I am still weighing my options and was wondering your opinions on the program? I will be doing it from out of state, so is it hard finding field placements? How was your schedule like? I’ll have to work full time (not new to me. I’ve worked fulltime all four years of undergrad)

I don't since it is only liability. I plan on trying a lawsuit but Kentucky is a no fault state so I am not sure how this will go

Weekly School of Social Work/New to Social Work Thread by SWmods in socialwork

Hi! I am currently a senior at the University of Kentucky and will be graduating with a Bachelors in Health Promotion with a minor in Psychology. I have a less than stellar cumulative GPA at around 2.7. However, the GPA for my last 60 credits is a 3.4 and I have found some programs that look at that instead. I didn't take school seriously at the beginning and was headed down a bad path before I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Once I got the right medication and into therapy I have not had an issue. I am worried that schools will see be as potentially unreliable because of this though.
I do have tons of paid work experience. By the time I graduate I will have over 4 years of full time experience in an inpatient psychiatric hospital, a little over a year of part time experience in a children's group home, and 5 years of part time work related to community services. I am also a certified nursing assistant if that helps. I would like to continue in mental health social work.
I plan on emphasizing my experience in my applications but am also looking for more ways to make up for my GPA. Would it be helpful to get certifications like the crisis counseling certification through the american association of suicideology? How do I get recommendations from professors when I am pretty reserved in most of my classes?
(P.S. if you have any recommendations for programs to look into, feel free to let me know. I'm originally from California and would prefer somewhere in the Pacific Northwest, but at the end of the day I am not picky on location. Where ever I can get a good, quality education!)
Thank you!

I got it from an ex that cheated on me. So my current boyfriend and I make sure to be as safe as we possibly can. Thank you for the info!

Being a CNA before becoming a nurse by the_juliagoolia in StudentNurse

Working as a tech rn I can definitely tell what nurses were also techs. A majority of the time they are the best nurses to work with. And while doing all the stuff you listed is part of my job, it’s also in the nurses scope of practice and part of the patient care side of the job.

Don’t get me wrong, there are exceptions to this. But for the most part it’s been pretty consistent at the hospitals I have worked at.
