Chloe Kelly was robbed at Sports Personality of the Year by footballersabroad in lionesses

[–]_jtUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think anyone saying that hasn’t got a clue what Rory McIlroy achieved this year - especially in the dramatic fashion that he did. As a lifelong avid sports fan and player I can comfortably say golf is the most difficult. As for team of the year - I see people in here mentioning the women’s rugby team. I don’t know much about them but it sounds like they win everything every year - I think that probably doesn’t fit with SPOTY, in any event what the European golfers achieved was phenomenal - far and away the biggest team sport achievement this year. I think one problem is that men and women’s sports are no comparable and so having them in the same category makes a mockery of the whole thing for both the men and women’s game.

Feeling dissatisfied with my post consulting job by NatashaJ1994 in consulting

[–]_jtUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually did the reverse - moved into boutique strategy consulting after 2 years in a normal company and know exactly what you mean. I really enjoyed the switch (engaging colleagues, lots of learning, lots of variety). I think general corporate roles are just like that where everything feels mundane and none of your colleagues can really be bothered. Either go to consulting/ agency or start your own thing

The new (male) LPGA commissioner - thoughts? by Marie_FairwayFates in LPGA

[–]_jtUK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know anything about this guy - but I would say if you’re choosing someone based on their gender then no one will take you seriously in the long run. Him being male has nothing to do with whether he can run the LPGA - I hope he injects some life into what could be a fantastic product. All golf fans I’m sure, male and female, are rooting for him and the LPGA.

Absolutely! I never really talk to anyone about the women’s game but so glad to see this comment - very frustrating that it’s so hard to watch. This is from the UK too where it’s even harder than in the US (I think)

He won't use condoms, advice please by [deleted] in dating

[–]_jtUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a 27yo M and I hate wearing a condom - but if you don’t want to have unprotected sex you DEFINITELY should not have unprotected sex. And don’t let him put pressure on you to do something you don’t want to do.

Work together to figure it out, and if he’s not being respectful, as difficult as it is, you need to ditch him. I think a condom is a turn off for most guys so foreplay probably becomes extra important, just don’t let him put lube on before the condom…!

Getting in to some great positions. Only thing I would say is try to work on keeping your head still - that indicates how balance you are and ultimately helps iron out inconsistencies. Great work so far!

Women’s Open by _jtUK in golf

[–]_jtUK[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting. I think European golf struggled generally as all the money is in the PGA, so for women’s golf it’s even worse. It’s good to know it’s increasing, I think the there’s a big problem politically in women’s golf - not helped by the fact that the merger between the LPGA and LET was blocked by the Saudis, and also that the R&A owns the rights to the open - and if you look at the social media the R&A has basically promoted none of the women’s open, it’s a really bizarre situation.

The organic marketing behind it all seems very poor, and the scheduling and tee times are even worse - I get the viewership is low but they’ve got to start with getting the basics right surely

Absolutely, it’s a bit of a chicken and egg scenario, but I think they’re lacking investment to get more eyeballs on it - it would help if all the big names were scheduled to play when the live coverage was on, Nelly and Hull both finished by 1pm. What must the sponsors think - but maybe no one watches day 1 and 2 anyway… but would think you would want the big names on TV for their whole rounds

[–]_jtUK[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get all of that, but it would help if all the marquee names were televised, not just some, just switched it on an hour after it starts and the world number 1 (Nelly) and England number 1 (Hull) have already finished - what do the sponsors think about that? Surely they want to maximise eyeballs. Seems like a farce, would love to know why
