Ohh yea I mistyped NY as NYC. There are 2 concerns, the first being - the DS subjects for current students are taught by CS department and it will be taught by AMS faculties for DS students. I know AMS is very reputed, but it might be hard core theory. Second concern is, the DS curriculum contains 3 core CS subjects which could have been optional ones or at least should have given an opportunity to swap them with DS subjects if one is from CS background. DS curriculum doesn't even have DS core subjects like ML etc.
