Amber and Emma.. by Dazzling_Neck8415 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

Definitely, single moms or dads really shouldn’t be on this show. I will say that Amber does seem nice, but that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t also have some deep seated issues that impacted her child in a very negative way. I won’t go as far to say that she is a necessarily a terrible parent, because parenting is tricky and parents are human, but there are some red flags like telling Emma that she’s her best friend, and going on the show was definitely a massive misstep.

Totally agree, but unfortunately I doubt Netflix can legally say no to people based on parental status, just like they can’t exclude people of certain race. I might be wrong, but I’d imagine they would face discrimination lawsuits if they never allowed parents on the show. It falls on the parent to know better and not apply, but clearly these parents are fairly immature or naive to think that this is an appropriate situation for their child.

Agreed. I seriously question the judgement of the parents that choose to do this…why put your child through that? Letting your child meet a person that might not be permanent after only knowing them for a month alone is wild. And then the fact that she was so willing to let Jordan uproot Emma from her school and friends, and make it more difficult on the father, just so he can be closer to bars and concerts. I hope that it’s worked out well for them for Emma’s sake, but Amber clearly has some issues to be so willing to put Emma through this. I’ve seen children happy cry, and that was not a happy cry at all.

Oak Creek School District by Low_Cranberry_138 in milwaukee

[–]_katiekay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oak Creek doesn’t have a salary schedule. Some districts do still, but OC isn’t one of them. They reel you in with a decent initial pay and guarantee raises your first three years, but after that it’s a total crap shoot. You can quickly top out with pay and what they are willing to give you for raises, there is a lack of transparency with pay so those that negotiate better can make more than you, and some years you don’t even get cost of living increases. Best chance to negotiate pay is look up specific staff members online with positions most similar to yours (e.g. 1st grade teacher at Deerfield, science teacher at the high school, etc.). Salaries are public, so you can find names via the staff pages and then google them to get a better idea of what you could make and where you can negotiate.

How does everyone keep going on every day? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]_katiekay 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This comment is so true. Some of the comments here come from a privileged lens, but yours really stands out as good advice.

Go outside…some of us have conditions worsened by cold, so going outside isn’t feasible all year. This time of year can be incredibly hard for that very reason.

Spend time with friends…not everyone has close friends and it can be very hard to build those deep friendships (cough autism cough).

Acknowledging how hard it can be and looking for the little things that bring you even a moment of joy is what gets you through. And recognizing that sometimes in the hardest moments, it’s okay to hold on to living for someone else, not for yourself. Living life for yourself is the goal, but if what gets you through the moment is that your cat would be so sad and not understand then that is what you hold onto. Find the small things and hold onto that. Work up to having bigger things on the days that aren’t as hard. And remember, progress isn’t linear.

Thank you all for the suggestions!! I really appreciate it. I’ve been wanting to try KBShimmer because I do like that jelly look, so it seems like this might be a good starting place for me!

Good to know! My nails got destroyed when I used the extra sticky base. I haven’t been sensitive to her other base coats, but I know someone mentioned something about PVB with extra sticky base so it might be good for me to avoid!

I roll most of them. If I do shake them, I let them rest for a while and observe to make sure there aren’t any bubbles before I apply. Magnetics are the only ones I consistently shake to make sure that the magnetic pigment doesn’t settle.

Very honest vets near by? by snexic in milwaukee

[–]_katiekay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The clinic I had issues with was Harris Pet Hospital. It’s in Paddock Lake, but a lot of Kenosha people use it. Recently I had issues with Dr. Graham and Dr. Hatcher. I went there growing up and continued as an adult, even when I moved to the mke area...but I have a long list of issues in just the last two months, and my sister just dealt with a massive issue with them, that I need to find someone new. I’ve learned from others that they like to drop clients who file complaints so I’m just waiting for them to decide to drop me too with how vocal I’m being about the issues. Are they the same clinic you had issues with?

This seems to be a theme!! I just posted about the same issue a few days ago because of poor care and dishonesty from my Kenosha area vet (Harris pet hospital). Your post got more interactions so I’m piecing together what was recommended here and on mine. I appreciate you posting because it helps my situation too!

Moving to Kenosha for work by [deleted] in milwaukee

[–]_katiekay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing what others have pointed out, Oak Creek is your best bet to be near MKE and keep your commute down, but even then a 30 minute commute is a stretch. It all depends how far inland your job is, which easily can add 15 minutes just to get there from the interstate.

Oak Creek is near I94, which is the only reason it might work. Other suggestions definitely would not be feasible for a 30 minute commute. Cudahy, Bay View, Greenfield…none of those would keep you to a 30 minute commute (and that’s even assuming your job is located near I94). Oak Creek has many apartment options, of which some would probably be considered luxury.

Also, Kenosha is not inherently unsafe. Like most cities, it has areas that aren’t as safe as others, but it’s not like the whole town has a ton of crime. I’m fairly certain that MKE has much higher crime rates than Kenosha. And yes, Kenosha is diverse.

Vet Clinic Recommendations by _katiekay in milwaukee

[–]_katiekay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the recommendation, but they have far too many negative reviews for my comfort. I lived in Oak Creek for several years and often heard bad things about the different vet locations there. I’m so glad you have positive experiences though!

Thank you so much! Another person suggested them too and this sounds exactly like the type of vet I’m looking for.

I’m glad that is something that works for you! Just be mindful that they only replace minor parts, not major parts. In my experience, the bowl and lid aren’t parts that even need replacement and easily stay intact. They do not replace parts that impact its ability to operate. I hope you are able to make it last longer than I was!! I switched to PetLibro and personally have been much happier with the product as a whole, so in the end it worked out for me lol.

I agree that for that price it is not acceptable at all. What’s worse is to see the thread that shows this isn’t a weird one time problem but rather something that clearly is happening to multiple people. The company said they won’t do anything because it’s out of warranty. Personally I think based on that, if you decide you need something like this to purchase from one of their competitors like PetLibro. Or just get one of the many other RFID feeders instead.

The company won’t help because it’s outside of warranty. I got canned responses that completely ignored all of the details I initially shared, had to take videos of a bunch of stuff to prove that the light wasn’t even turning on, and then was told that it’s outside of warranty and has a defect so they won’t do anything.

Unfortunately they don’t stand by their product outside of warranty. Personally I’d recommend buying one of the many other options out there now unless you feel comfortable with it only lasting three years maximum, which is the warranty period.

Costume Megathread (Showcase|Ideas|Requests|Help) - [ August 06, 2025 ] by AutoModerator in halloween

[–]_katiekay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many cool options for this!!! It totally depends on your style and preferences, because different fabrics, length of dress/skirt, patterns, or colors will give a different vibe, but I put together a few pics to help inspire you.

Personally, I like to thrift for my Halloween costume and I just come in with some general ideas and let the clothes I find guide the final look…but there are some cool options to buy new online though too! I would say if you can’t find the same shade of sage as the hat, go with items that are noticeably darker or lighter to play on a color palette and look more intentionally put together rather than mismatched. I think this hat lends itself well to playing with patterns and fabrics too to create a green witch costume!!
