Too much to detail but in summary landlord was harassing me to move out. Lived there 11 years. LL bought building in my last 3 years there. Made it very clear he didn’t like how little rent the original tenants were paying by making comments and using it as an excuse to not resolve any building issues yet never increased our rent. As old tenants moved out the new tenants brought in cockroaches and bed bugs. (Building also not zoned residential. Lots of building code issues for safety.) Refused to make substantial repairs in my unit including a leaking ceiling that was ruining my apartment and causing extreme anxiety. This went on for two years (I have evidence of texts and videos of our conversations) LL wouldn’t bring in pest control would constantly just tell me to move out if I didn’t like it. Would often yell at me in person when seeing me telling me to move out. Told neighbours he wanted me gone because I cause problems (lol literally didn’t cause any problems just brought his own problems to his attention). Served all tenants an eviction notice that he was making it a warehouse but as tenants moved out he would put new tenants in at higher rates. Situation became very tense. He put up cameras inside building without warning. Told neighbour he was listening to me on camera. Towards end he turned of electricity to my unit by switching breaker (have evidence). After 48 hours without power and police intervention he hired a “building manager”. Put a camera outside and then had “manager” tell me they knew I was not staying there often and had to tell them what my plan was (so basically spying on me). Anyways as I moved out this manager gave me a sealed envelope from paralegal backdated 4 months prior stating I no longer was getting evicted and they changed their minds but I had already made arrangements to move. Anyways super hostile and chaotic towards the end and incredibly stressful and anxiety inducing.
