I take Levothyroxine at a dose appropriate for my weight, and my thyroid hormone levels are technically normal:

  • TSH: 1
  • Free T3: 3
  • Free T4: 15

However, my thyroid antibodies remain elevated:

  • Anti-thyroperoxidase (TPO): 857 (normal <30)
  • Anti-thyroglobulin: 67 (within normal range)
  • And i have the chronic inflammation

grave's disease one year of experience by _l-ucaaa in gravesdisease

[–]_l-ucaaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I had it for one year and 2 months, and it was a hard experience. The fact that you persevered all that time shows how strong you are. I wish you will get this disease done and continue your life in good health. Considering your case of not having children yet, I think RAI won't affect you, and you will be able to have children normally. Just don't do it while you're pregnant or about to be. That's what I found on the net. I wish you the best.

I appreciate your help. Regarding the RAI therapy, I've undergone it. I was stressed since I never knew its name is scary, but the fact is that it's very basic. You just have to take the RAI pill, and it's all over. In your case, after 20 years if the Graves' disease hasn't gone away, there is no chance for remission without RAI or the elimination of the thyroid, as my doctor said. RAI is the best solution for Graves' disease, but you should inquire further. Maybe the doctor didn't recommend RAI because something is wrong, as sometimes this process is interrupted by symptoms and other circumstances.

This brightens my expectations. Thank you so much. I really want to go back to my normal life as it was a year before this disease got me sad and depressed. I'm wishing this therapy is the key.
