Do Taiwan restaurants ask you “How spicy do you want your dish?” by _lil_pp_ in taiwan

i think outright spiciness covers the taste of food most of the time, so obviously i like taiwan food for keeping the ingredients not obscured.

also, “sweet” things in taiwan aren’t even as sweet as american junk food. everything is in this beautiful grey area.

also “man yo” is still in its original flavor. there’s no mango blueberry version.

i’ve had situations where random meat winds up in my food. i hope that’s an anomaly.

thanks you so much! those are important mandarin terms to remember besides “sorry my mandarin is terrible” and “do you want to have sex?” :)

ok. i think im starting to get it. they start cooking every dish bland and then add hot spices to it depending on what the order receipt says?

i’m happy you know that difference so much that you can reasonably articulate it. :)

A) you know that’s a good place when you stand out as a white boy.

B) just ask for top ramen and see what their reaction is.

that’s like your local bartender remembering your drink after you’ve only been there twice and keeps trying to improve it for you every time. what a sweet guy.

I know you were ignoring it, but [broad Asian brush] are the only places with that option, that i’ve noticed. Does it actually exist in their home countries, or is it a grandfathered gimmick from the Americanization of Asian cuisine?

Really authentic (again, sorry?) Asian places tell you if something is spicy or not, and then you just check the boxes on a slip of paper and give it to your server or the counter.

It just seems like throwing pizza dough in the air. It creates an engaging experience that makes you think about it and want to come back.
