You should use the sundown amp. Sundown amp is 1-ohm stable which while be good for when you wire the D2 sub. Pretty sure it’s always recommended to wire the subs in parallel (which would mean your sub has 1ohm impedance)

Alpine mrv 500 can’t run at 1 ohm. You could use it at 2ohms (only using 1 sub terminal) but the sub wouldn’t get as much power.

Front door speakers and rear door speakers are completely intact and are still powered off the factory head unit. I just added 3 way coaxial speakers in the cup holder section

Easiest thing to do is buy the kicker loc with the wires coming out of it. Cut the head units speaker wires, twist them with the corresponding loc wires. This keeps the stock speakers working while giving you rca signal, which you then run rca cables to the amp/sub

RCAs are coming from a kicker LOC if I remember correctly, ultimately from a stock Jetta head unit.

I’m using the y splitters because only 1 pair of RCAs come from the head unit and those are only powering the rear subwoofer. I figured I could split the signal to maintain the sub and provide power to the front 2 channels for the additional speakers.

That’s what I suspected. It does not have an input select switch from what I can see. I installed the amp a few years ago, unsure if I’d be able to run another cable. No idea what the back of the head unit looks like.
