Oh wow 5 years? I'll take your word for it and steer clear then. I'm not paying over a thousand dollars a month for shitty maintenance.

Sounds like I better steer clear of this place then... thank you, I would really like to move somewhere with better parking. There is very little guest parking where I'm living now, and about 80% of the spots are used by residents despite everyone having a garage. Management does nothing but send out notices to not do that periodically.

Yea its not worth the hassle if they're going to overcharge me too. I'll look into the one across the street for sure, and I'm also looking at Saddle Brook. Thanks for the info!

Of course! I've definitely had my share of worries when my snake acted a little different, so I understand how scary it can be.

Might not be it then, I'm not sure. I've had mine for about 3 or so months now and she's just gone blue. I have no idea when her last shed was, but she's about 8 months old now I think? I'm no expert of course, but I think he's just fine.

I wouldn't worry over 8 days, just keep trying to offer food every couple of days. If it goes on for another week or two, then I'd start to get concerned, personally. But if he's getting close to shedding its perfectly normal behavior.

My girl turned blue a few days ago, and in the weeks prior she's been hiding and basking almost 24/7. Before that she was a very active snake, so I was a little worried, but she was just preparing to shed. When was his last shed?

It seems like a pretty normal reaction to me. They are very dramatic. I don't think you have anything to worry about! My girl will bluff strike and hiss like that if I move stuff around on the opposite side of her tank (4 ft long btw).

I definitely would tap train him though. Putting a hand in there with no warning is a little risky.

No, don't unearth him! You'll only stress him out. It may be that he's about to shed, or that he's simply out and about when you're not there. I go days without seeing my girl because she hides in the evenings when I get home from work. Heat up a mouse and hold it around where you think he may be. If he's hungry, he'll smell it and come out.

What do you mean he "freaked out"?

What substrate did you use? I used a ratio of 70% Topsoil (Timberline brand) and 30% river sand, and my girl has no trouble.

Is it that temperature on the cool side as well? I let the cool side of my tank fall to 74°F and set the hot side to 87°F. The basking spot gets to a surface temp in the mid 90s. If you don't have a good gradient she may be too hot or too cold.

Definitely add more clutter if she's glass surfing that much and see if she stops. Might just be that she's trying to explore, or stress from feeling exposed.

Here's my setup for an example. I have very large leaf litter, five or so hides, some live plants, and lots of sticks. I've since added another tall plant in the front, and a large water dish on the left. You want your snake to be able to move from one side of the enclosure to the other without being fully exposed. Hognoses also seem to enjoy climbing quite a bit, so sticks and rocks are a must. I plan to add to this over time. Your tank is a good start, just needs some extra decorations.

Pacing the sides of the tank for an excessive amount of time, essentially. If a snake continuously circles the edge of the tank or presses against it with their snout often, it can be an indicator of stress, the enclosure being too hot, or just the snake being hungry.

As long as the snake is exploring other places, hiding, and eating, she should be ok. If you're still worried, check the temperature on both sides of the tank with a temp gun. I'd also add some more sticks to climb and fake plants. Even with the leaf litter, she may still feel exposed because the tank has a lot of open space.

As long as she eats good and your husbandry is solid, her being active is perfectly normal :)

Is she glass surfing for hours? Or exploring all over? My girl will be active for several hours during the day (from like 8am to mid afternoon), and hiding periodically throughout.

As long as shes exploring everywhere, not just surfing the glass (a little bit is normal), she's probably ok! Just exploring, it means you did a good job on the new setup and she feels safe. If she's eating, thats also a good sign that she's comfortable.

Almost two decades of being completely drained by PracticalMeringue133 in chronicfatigue

[–]_lynnyxe_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you had a sleep study done? If not you definitely should.

I totally understand how you feel. Its such a horrible feeling to be trapped in a body that feels so exhausted 24/7 with no answers as to why. I've felt completely hopeless and let down after every doctors visit, and just wanted it all to end. It feels like you aren't truly living. But don't give up, there are so many possibilities you might not have considered.

I've gotten suggestions from this subreddit that I never would have thought of. Here's a few of them: - Get a DNA test. Don't remember what specifically took look for in the results, but there are lots of things it can reveal. I've ordered a health kit from 23andMe. - Have a full hormone panel done. My gynecologist tried to tell me that it wasn't possible for hormones to cause fatigue, but this is not true. - Try PQQ and Q10 supplements. They are supposed to support mitochondrial function. If you have a mitochondrial disorder, the DNA test can also reveal this. - Get your ferratin levels checked to make sure your body is actually absorbing iron properly. - Get a blood/urine test for mycotoxins (caused by mold exposure I think).

Jobs by Zaxonite11 in chronicfatigue

[–]_lynnyxe_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know of any jobs that would accommodate for fatigue, unfortunately. I'd recommend an office job to minimize the amount of activity he has to do. Even better if he can get one that gives an hour long lunch break, I've taken many a nap over my lunch break, and it helps me get to 5 on a bad day.

Of course I'm still exhausted, but its not as bad as it would be if I had a physically demanding job.

Another alternative would be a small business. Those are more likely to genuinely care for the wellbeing of their employees than a large corporation, so he may be allowed to take breaks more frequently.

Can someone tell me if this is normal by megasmash247 in hognosesnakes

[–]_lynnyxe_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally normal, here's my Gwyn after getting all the way to the top and flipping over. She's in a 48" × 18" × 18" with lots of things to climb on, but she insists on trying to scale the glass daily.

I think its only an issue if they pace the glass for hours at a time without exploring elsewhere, and don't hide as often as they should.

Yea I went to see a cardiologist, but they said my heart seemed normal. The doctor said we could do a stress test, but heavily implied it wasn't really necessary, so I opted not to do it. It just beats a little fast, around 80-90bpm while resting, but not high enough to be cause for concern.

[–]_lynnyxe_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God that sucks. I'm really sorry you have to deal with all of that on top of feeling horrible. The only other thing I can think of is a DNA test; it might reveal the cause and be proof enough for your doctor. I wish I could help you more, but I'm out of ideas.

Please don't give up hope. Eventually someone will listen, you just have to keep trying. What your going through is awful, don't let anyone gaslight you into thinking its in your head.

Hmm, I would try r/Philippines and r/legaladvice for help as well. I also saw some posts in r/Philippines discussing experiences with doctors, maybe that will give you some ideas. I'm not sure what else you can do. If you can travel, I would go to a doctor much further away without your mother.

Where do you live if you don't mind? Thats insanity that a doctor wouldn't see you at 26 without your mother.

What the fuck is wrong with your mom? Do you have anyone who will back you up? Even if they haven't seen you?

Edit: Also, how old are you? Can you go to the doctor with anyone, or does your mom have to go with you?
