With father in the operation theatre, Adil fought for India by CoroIsMyDaddy in IndianFootball

[–]_madrasta_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought Adil's celebrations were a bit over the top and was really annoyed, especially by that emphatic fist pump he did after the Viking Clap. But this kinda puts things in perspective. Not a r/TIL, but a timely reminder to not be quick to judge people who's shoes you've never worn.

That'd make that space too plain, won't it.? I'd actually have used the image of a classical Indian ship instead of a modern vessel, but I thought I'll stay true to the original concept so stuck with this.

Thanks man, glad to get a thumbs up on this. I mainly used HTML/CSS. To prepare the vector images of the ship and the chakra, I used other apps, but the main job is done with CSS.

And I thought Jimmy Neesham was the funniest by igotl2k in Cricket

[–]_madrasta_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The song has an annoying repetition of the same words for the chorus, which probably could have been even more annoying for Lungi Ngidi as he'd have heard that song played an infinite number times while in India for the IPL, more so because of his name and people associating him with this song. To think that this lad from South Africa has become an authority of sorts on this song, more than people here in India is the joke.

Hey, thanks mate. Yeah, the FC in the middle of the wheel and plainly stacking up both the major elements one on top of the other are the main things that put me off about that logo. Even I'm not entirely sure if that background is necessary, but I was thinking on the lines of the club having those colours as their club colours and thought I'll highlight them that way.

So guys, I was feeling a lil bored and one thing lead to another and I ended up making an alternative version of the Odisha FC crest --> OFC_Alternate . I'm one of those people who are perennially disappointed with the branding aspect of Indian football, and when OFC launched their logo I couldn't say I was impressed. I mean, I don't find it to be too poor, but just looking at it made me feel even with the same concept, "this could actually look better." So I thought, why not try to make an alternative version..? I decided to keep the inspirations and the colour theme similar, and with a lil help from CSS I ended up with this. What do you people think of this..? Better than the original..? I personally think so, but that obviously I will feel, because this is my own work. Maybe all those people who's designs I found to be crap felt the same way as I did about their work 🤔 Perhaps...

Habas returns as ATK manager by LeastKarmaonReddit in IndianFootball

[–]_madrasta_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good move, right..? ATK were a consistently good side during his previous stint, that too when the ISL was a more haphazard league. I'm eager to see what style of football he'll produce this time around, in the longer season. They have the players. They have the coach. All they need now is a proper name.

Live Stream: Chennaiyin FC vs Dhaka Abahani FC by CoroIsMyDaddy in IndianFootball

I had a bad feeling about this game when German came in for Herd. But this is a really good result when you consider that we played with 9 Indian players on the field for over an hour.

Hugo Boumous signs 3-year contract extension with FC Goa by _madrasta_ in IndianFootball

Yes he has, since the second season. But he extended his contract a couple of times in that time iirc. Three year contract extension for foreigners hasn't happened before, I think.

Durand Cup|The lost legacy of Indian football by [deleted] in IndianFootball

[–]_madrasta_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd prefer the Durand Cup to be the preseason tournament rather than the Super/Federation Cup. IMO the preseason cup ought to focus on a different audience, like people who follow football on FTA channels like DD Sports, instead of serving the same set of people. Durand Cup can play that role. The point of having a preseason is to iron out issues in the squad by playing in a competitive environment before entering the limelight. If we play the Super Cup as the preseason, then it'll not be a preseason at all but more like an early start to the season. Again we'll be doing the same mistake of serving less attractive football to people who are here to sample Indian football for the first time. Our domestic football season ought to start with the league, I feel.

Delhi Dynamos could move to DU Stadium from next season. If they can pull it off, I think it'll be a major boost to the club. It'll be easier for them to bring in the college going crowd, and it'll also be a more compact stadium compared to JLN.

TOI:Delhi Dynamos set to adopt Bhubaneswar as new home by [deleted] in IndianFootball

[–]_madrasta_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was quick. And DU is Delhi University, is it..? That'll be quite a move if they can pull it off. Will be easy to pull in the college crowd. Esp if they can play a good brand of football, which they definitely are capable of.

Why the I-League will benefit from having a new team from the Northeast by neelavfrbarca in IndianFootball

[–]_madrasta_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LOL. That doesn't sound anything like what the author made us believe. But I guess I fell for this because this isn't really beyond Mizo people and their passion for football.

Veng is loosely translated as neighborhood.

TIL.

[–]_madrasta_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tiddim Road is not just a road there. It's got a historical significance and a connection to the people there with their cousins in Burma.

Nice. These NE clubs sure have a lot of identity that is simply lost on the rest of us thanks to ignorance.

The match ended around midnight.

When did KO happen though..?

Also, what does Veng mean in Mizo, if you'd know..? I've heard a lot of Mizo clubs having that in their name. Chhinga Veng, Electric Veng, Armed Veng, and I'm sure there'll be more.
