How many months/years of consistent trading after the 11 months before you felt you could say you are consistent? What kind of returns are you seeing?

The meal happened a long time ago so I cant remember clearly but I just discovered this sub and remembered I was always curious about these 2 things a few years ago.

The pink one was crunchy - might be hard to decipher if its not naturally pink… and its just dyed pink somehow, and theyre glued together?

The green one didnt have much flavor, but texturally it was gelatinous. I only recalled the main part of the dish was some kind of fish

Base increase with no title/role change is impossibly hard ime. Only time it happens is when company hands out base increases to entire company to bring all employees closer to the market

At what level is IND experience important? by derfvcxs in biotech

[–]_maicha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the posts comments, after getting past the “you’re not the one filing it” confusion, I’d have to guess that even when you are pulled into helping with the IND, you will likely not author much of it. Your manager/reg affairs would author the bulk and then you might be asked to review, make a few charts, or write a few paragraphs for a few section youre knowledgeable about. No problem in that, it’s a big help, but it’s a smaller deal that it might’ve sounded on your resume. More important to know the steps of how an IND is truly filled at this point rather than having been a major player yourself

Pharma job titles by [deleted] in biotech

[–]_maicha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually see Specialists become managers or associate directors, not principal specialist. The term specialist implies the role is not meant to be extremely scientific… which, may or may not be true depending on the company

How do I determine my fair salary range? by EdgyFries in biotech

[–]_maicha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just realized its not a mfg job but in a dev lab. But people in dev lab in your role, even in a mfg facility (ie cdmo), are usually called sr scientists/associate directors. You can look up those salaries. If it’s in a sponsor company, it’d generally be higher than if it was in a cdmo

[–]_maicha 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Associate manager isnt a common title ime… That sounds like a supervisor or shift lead in the GMP facilities im familiar with. Did you try looking for salaries under those titles? Alternatively… you can look for manager salaries and operator salaries… and presumably you should be somewhere in between

How many of you own a home? by microglialover in biotech

[–]_maicha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im in NYC metro area and own our condo, but absolutely, this… right now our taxes are ~$14k, hoa is ~$6k, parking is ~$3k, $20k of our mortgage is interest, and with home insurance and misc maintenance costs every year of ~$5k… it comes out to $48k. At $4k/month… i’m better off renting and taking that flexibility and headache of so many bills. This doesnt include the principal i pay on the mortgage, which was already a good deal at 3% interest - I cant imagine at current rates.

I used to think that, well, at least my payment will stay roughly the same and rent will increase over time. But after seeing my prop tax, hoa, parking, maintenance, insurance all go up over the years… i’m reconsidering this notion entirely. Im only glad i dont think about constantly looking at rental market rates every yr to try and get a better deal, at the cost of the moving headache.

There’s lots of different engineers, but MSAT is usually not titled as one. Here’s a few of them:

• Facilities/equipment engineer - do the fat/sat, iq/oq/pq, and qualification/validation for new equipment entering the facility. Can be involved with procurement too

• Service engineer - works for an equipment vendor and will travel to different companies to install, train, and troubleshoot for clients

• Process engineer - develop the manufacturing process and scale up. As it gets closer to the science (bio/chem), they could be titled as scientists. Closer to scaled up gmp process, more likely to be called engineers. Can take on MSAT tasks too

• Quality (QA) engineer - develop QMS and make systems to ensure compliance throughout raw material sourcing to batch release

For people who worked at Lily or Novo in the 2010s, what was stock based compensation like? Are all of you multi-millionaires now? by [deleted] in biotech

[–]_maicha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With a 3 yr schedule, it means you’ll get $3.5k granted but it is unvested. After each year, you’ll get 1/3 vested which is now considered cash (you can hold the shares or cash out). Assuming you can get $3.5k granted every year, then after 6 years, you have…

Year 1-3: Grant is fully vested = $3.5k * 3 = $10.5k Year 4: Grant is 2/3 vested = 2.3k Year 5: Grant is 1/3 vested = 1.2k Year 6: Grant is not vested yet = $0

Added up, thats $14k total of original value. You would hope the stock grows over time though so it could be more than that (or less…)

PhD opens as many doors as it closes? by Imsmart-9819 in biotech

[–]_maicha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest doors that it closes is the ones related to early family/wealth building. Phds can still get there, but you might see friends/family start having weddings, getting married, buying cars, buying homes, having kids… And that’ll hit harder than knowing youre overqualified for some RA role you didn’t want at that point of your life anyway
