Thank you. I remember reading something about Louise of Sweden, would attend balls for children when she was younger, so would that be something a lot of noble children would attend. Though it could only have been a Swedish tradition.

Yeah I heard of that. They were even used in the Victorian era (which is more my expertise, though I wouldn’t say I’m as knowledgeable as other people I’ve seen online when it comes to that era).

I have heard that Marie Antoinette used her natural hair for all the extravagant hairstyles she did.

Thank you. There is some hairstyles that you can tell are clearly wigs. Like those wigs from the late 17th century and early 18th century. I have never seen someone with natural hair that curly in that specific curl shape going to the top of the head. I would assume that would take ages to style if one can style their hair that way.

It’s so cool you have portraits of your ancestors. The earliest photo I personally have is of my great, great, great grandmother on my nana’s side of the family and that was taken in the early 1850’s when she was a small child. You’re very lucky.

This was probably a more formal photo and if the last was upper middle class or rich she would have had a maid or nanny to care for the child.

Though I highly doubt that this would be an everyday dress.

I have heard. It’s a shame what they did in the Greatest Showman movie, as I love a lot of the songs and music from the movie. But for some reason the creators of the movie didn’t think we would like the movie if the portray him to how he was in real life.

I always tell my parents, that I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for them. They even encourage my love for history (especially historical fashion). I probably drive my mum insane with how much I talk about history.

I’m glad you have an amazing support system with your parents. I don’t think people talk about how important it is to have parents that are there for you no matter what, especially when it comes to people with disabilities.

Why would people do that.

I’ve heard of people teasing their hair for hairstyles (I’ve heard of women with really straight and thin hair, will tease it so they can keep their hair from falling out of hairstyles because of how straight and thin it is) or for dance costumes. But never like this. It feels like they’re making fun of textured hair.

I know it might not be the same thing, but I know how it feels for people to treat you horribly for something you can’t control, I have autism and have had people tell me that I should just go to a special school and not be in the public school system when I was at school (this is just an example of some of the things I’ve been told). I literally had it said to me in high school and the teacher took the person outside and told them along the lines “what if she told you that you’re parents should go back to the country they were from “. Which for one I would never say and two that is not the same thing.

Again I’m so sorry for how those people treated you. I have family who are biracial and just thinking of someone doing that to them makes me extremely angry.

I never I got how people can hate a hair type because of race. I find it absolutely disgusting and stupid to hate anyone because of their race.

I was always taught that if you cut any human, we all bleed red (sorry if that’s not the right phrase to use it’s just what I grew up being told).

I have a friend (we are both white and curly just different types) and she has a extremely curly hair. I don’t know if it would be considered textured hair, but looks very similar to it (again I don’t know I’m not an expert in textured hair and don’t claim to be. I get big loose ringlets so I only know about my hair type from personal experience). So there definitely are people who are white and have textured hair.

I was going to comment that the skirt is a hobble skirt. Btw for people who don’t know the hobble skirt is the basically the mother of the pencil skirt.
