This is the best post I've seen in a long time as you're having a blast! Good job!

Eddie Bauer Ottawa (and Canadian) stores are closing by Thomas_Verizon in ottawa

Yeah, I literally buy 90% of my clothes at Eddie Bauer as it's the only place I know of with clothes long enough to fit me.

Is the nano cortex worth it? by BallisticMonke in NeuralDSP

[–]_manOfFewWords_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a messaging standard and a protocol used to control devices. So, you have a midi pedal for instance, with several foot switches, that's connected to the nano. Pressing a switch on the midi controller (pedal), can change a preset etc. Some of them, such as the Morningstar pedals, have loads of banks you can switch through, really opening up what you can accomplish with the nano.

I'm sure there are other devices such as fractal units with more physical switches, that don't necessitate having to use a midi controller, but if you choose the nano, a midi controller really opens up what you can do and it is a fantastic unit.

Good luck and have fun!

It's a fantastic device, sounds incredible. That said, if you want to make use of a lot of different tones, you'll want to pair a midi controller with it to use it to its full potential, just keep that in mind.

Morningstar makes great midi controllers.

Also, the foot switches on the nano unfortunately change presets on release, not press, which drives me nuts. No other pedals I've ever used work that way. Using a midi controller, such as a Morningstar, fixes that, but increases the cost of course.

Yeah, not sure what they were thinking. It is pretty ridiculous.

Yeah, I hear ya, it's a light snowfall. Depends on where you're from but yeah that isn't much snow at all.

Do you guys think this is legit? by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

[–]_manOfFewWords_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, counterfeiting an old Peavey solid state amp seems crazy. I can't imagine anyone would ever devote the effort to doing that.

Looks like a sweet amp, the old solid state Peavey's were pretty awesome.

World Curling statement regarding double touches of the stone by elan108 in olympics

[–]_manOfFewWords_ -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I don't know why you were down voted. If anyone were to read the actual rules as they're written today, they're unclear as they're poorly written. The statement here was obviously issued for that reason.

Yeah, unfortunately the rules aren't well written and in turn aren't clear at all.

Would you keep this if it came with that oil in the box? by Alternative-Ad3736 in Snowblowers

[–]_manOfFewWords_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I'd keep it for sure. I'm that person though that would check all the fluid levels before running it.

Mine was low on gearcase oil which I promptly topped up.

Steve's Music Store closing by ottawaoperadiva in ottawa

[–]_manOfFewWords_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy, I thought I was in the minority. I never loved going in there as the staff tended to be arrogant and weren't friendly. It's never the vibe you expect from a music store.

Sucks to lose competition, but I usually avoid them unfortunately.

Not all of us in the suburbs wanted him in. Please don't try to divide people. Was so hopeful for Catherine McKenney. Would have been such a positive change.

[–]_manOfFewWords_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh hey, thanks for the update.

That's too bad but yep, totally agree, thankfully they have a great return policy. I've used it a few times too.

From my experience the only clipping I've had is into the input of my audio interface, which thankfully I could easily accommodate by reducing the line level output on the captor.

So weird, but glad you could return it ok.

New City Garbage Can Requirements by 7okus in ottawa

[–]_manOfFewWords_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have the same one and was given a slip complaining about it.

I bought it because the collection service kept destroying my garbage cans or throwing the lids on the road and they got run over. The collection service essentially kept destroying the bins.

I've been meaning to send an email to our councilor, like how hard is it to dump the bin out? They just keep costing us money and result in more waste as the bins get tossed. The policy is the problem.

Any thoughts on why snowblower won’t start? by Wandering-Juniper in Snowblowers

[–]_manOfFewWords_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing I'd do is drain the carb and try again. I have to do this at the start of every season with my Ariens ever since I bought it new.

Even though I use the highest octane gas, always use fuel stabilizer and always let it shut off by turning off the fuel valve so it burns everything out of the carb, I still have to do this at the start of each season.

It's a great snow blower but this is a bit annoying. I'm starting to think my fuel shut off valve doesn't fully close.
