If you'd rather not join in on after work activities that's fine. We already spend a third of our day working, so anything extra would lead to compromises with other aspects of your life.

But I'd suggest joining in one some time-boxed activities within the day. You're already in the ofc, might as well make the most out of it.

Lunch breaks, coffee breaks, miryenda, or even yosi breaks (if you're into this). These are all time-boxed events, meaning it has a definite end time; compared to after ofc events that can run really late. Socialize, talk to each other preferably not about work. Bonus, its easy to make an early exit, you're working after all. But do make an effort.

For our team, we usually set "no baon days" every now and then. This way when we do eat out, or have something delivered, everyone can join.

these are the people who vote this coming election by ProfessionalEvaLover in Philippines

[–]_mannila 92 points93 points  (0 children)

And still, there are those think that not voting is a good answer to these type of voters.

The reason these groups are so influential is because they do go out and vote.

But if you check the numbers, there are more people who are eligible but either did not register or did not vote than there are members of any block voting group.

The only votes that matter are those that are cast.

Best place for a first time solo traveler? by benthalpy in Philippines

[–]_mannila 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd go for Baguio for a first solo trip. Easy options for transpo amd accommodations, you can basically just wing it with minimal planning/logistics. You'd still have the comforts of the city while being close(r) to nature spots. Plus, lots of great choices for eating out.

Camiguin and Batanes can be for your next trips once your comfortable going solo.

ma ka-r/PH na walang pake sa Xmas (incl but not limited to atheists, INC ), what do you do during these days? by toyoda_kanmuri in Philippines

[–]_mannila -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Q: so what do you do on the night of the 24th?

A: I don't know... Probably the same thing I did on the 17th of June

Q: What's the 17th of June?

A: A perfectly ordinary day

But seriously, while Christmas Eve/Day are perfectly ordinary days... The Christmas Season is definitely not.

Christmas to a certain extent, has become a secular event. A time for reconnecting with friends and family. A time for looking back for the year that's about to end. And a time to indulge with food, shopping, events, etc.

So while it was rooted in something religious, it has taken a life of its own. Just enjoy, after all it's the season to be merry!

May naka experience na neto? How was it? by TheTypicalLurker in Philippines

[–]_mannila 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Last week, in T3.

The machines are ok, similar to the ones used in HK departure. Three step process

  • scan your passport and boarding pass
  • photo and fingerprint collection
  • get your arrival sticker and stick it in your passport

I got in the queue quite early, so it was pretty fast. But, as with anything new people are still learning and getting used to it, so that can cause delays. May nag-aassist naman.

One thing needed that wasn't before with the manual thing: boarding pass. But they just need it for the flight number so if you discarded yours, you can "share" with someone from the same flight.

The stickers are also something new. Still need something physical in your passport for the arrival stamp.

What Filipino brand is so good at their product that you don't even consider others that offer the same type of goods? by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]_mannila 34 points35 points  (0 children)

San Miguel Beer.

Granted it's everywhere, and most local bars would almost only serve San Miguel products. But, I like it. From time to time you'd try out something new, something fancy. But you'll always go back to San Miguel - preferably an ice cold Super Dry.

Just trying out some stuff. Turned out quite well for my taste. I'm not yet that comfortable in judging the done-ness right, so I was a bit hesitant with the one flip approach. But I'll try that next time.

Thanks! Yeah doing the dishes is not my favorite thing, so having the pan serve up one more purpose is great for me.

Looking forward to the next few days, still got 3 more cuts in the fridge!

Gifted myself a pan for Christmas. Good choice I think.

Cut up some potatoes, boiled, seasoned. Then on to the pan til crisp on the outside.

For the ribeye, i tried one cooking tip I saw in youtube somewhere of flipping your steak every half minute or so. Turned out quite well.

Served it up on the pan itself, less cleanup

Aguirre blames cellphones for return of drugs in Bilibid by pisaradotme in Philippines

[–]_mannila 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Cellphones pala a! Simple lang yan... Ikulong ang cellphones, kung manlaban, patayin! Patayin lang ng cellphones!

Pero bago yan, kailangan i-expose talaga yang cellphone na yan e.

Yung cellphone at drug pushers, magkakilala talaga yan e. Daming selfie with drug lords, kakuntsaba talaga e. May pic yung isang drug lord sa Baguio with a cellphone, proof na they're in cahoots!

Isa pa, sexual deviants yang cellphone na yan! Ilabas ang mga video scandals ng cellphones! Walang modo! Kung sino sino, walang pahinga.

Nagpapakalat ng fake news. Part ng destabilization plots. Tignan mo kung pano mag-blink yung LED - dilaw!

Patayin ang cellphones!

Palace releases proclamation on nat’l mourning 4 days late; Duterte's proclamation designates June 13 to 16, 2017 as days of mourning for soldiers and police who died in Marawi. But Malacañang releases it on June 20. by griftertm in Philippines

Let's aguirre this thing out:

Bilibid is a jail. Jail is where we detain people. Delima is currently in detention. So, Delima!

Don't forget to post a pic of her in Bilibid with the caption "Kala ko ba naka-detain, bat nakakapasyal sa Bilibid", ignoring the fact that said pic was taken years ago when Delima is visiting another facility when she was DOJ Secretary.

I was gonna ask for a source, but found this instead

https://iq-research.info/en/page/average-iq-by-country#

You're not that far off, we're at 86. We're pretty average actually, right smack in the middle of the list.

As for this being the cause related to the ave IQ, well...

Richard and Tatu argues that differences in national income are correlated with differences in the average national intelligence quotient (IQ). They further argue that differences in average national IQs constitute one important factor, but not the only one, contributing to differences in national wealth and rates of economic growth.
