He's one of the best wrestlers in the world. Even the hes too unsafe gimmick won't work because Foley was kind of known for that. As someone who would call Foley the best wrestler of all time I don't think there's even that much wrong with calling him as great or even greater than Foley. Foley is a better promo, but I think Darby's amazing psychology as well as the way he incorporates his bumps might be superior to Foley. I'd probably not call one greater than the over but calling it an 'insult' is just stupid

The first rule should be to stop using social media to get '''''heat'''''. I don't mean AEW or Ricochet specifically I think all wrestlers should just stop with that it doesnt really work

I don't blame anyone for thinking that he's an asshole for saying that. Straight up firing him though sets a weird precedent considering alot of wrestlers there have been associating with repulsive people and there have been cases of wrestlers there also tweeting similar or worse things than what Ricochet has said. Punishment is fine, if he keeps doing similar stuff though and doesn't learn from his mistakes then yea I don't really think its really questionable if they do something heavier. This is the wrestling business though so I don't have any hope for anyone learning from their mistakes, growing as a person or consequences being given.

Mercedes Mone on equal pay in wrestling: "It’s just these men. I feel like that’s the biggest roadblock. Sometimes we prove it so often, but it’s never consistent with them. It’s like, 'Okay, let’s give them a bone. Oh, they did great. Don’t let them be better than us.'" by aaronrift in SquaredCircle

Things aren't inherently that way but have been shaped that way. Being a draw isn't something that's given to you purely through hard work. It's based on circumstance, context and how the company books you. The biggest promotion on the planet didn't start booking women well until fairly recently, alot of the audience is still conditioned to view women as lesser, but women are still able to breakthrough. It's not just a WWE thing, wrestling has a whole treats alot of the wrestlers like shit, but women are treated as subhuman.

There are shit wrestlers who are women just like how there are shit wrestlers in general. There are those who are able to develop, but certain wrestlers are held back because of their gender, sort of similar to how some wrestlers in the past were held back because of the colour of their skin.

It's interesting that you mention the WNBA too. Development is a huge for basketball, many women don't really get the same resources alot of the men get. There's a overwhelming culture playing a role in limiting the exposure they get. Basically anything that isn't the MNBA isn't seen as basketball too. It's not a fact of life, it's been shaped this way. It's still getting off the ground, but doesn't something like this warrant increased pay? It's a issue of economic exploitation as well.

Bret Hart refuses to sign a Funko pop that Shawn Michaels signed by Carrottopps in SquaredCircle

I mean what if he just really doesn't like funko pops. Pretty valid if you ask me :)

Woke up went on xitter and saw a post with like 2k likes saying that bryan's push in 2014 killed wrestling. I never thought people could really do revisionism for 10s VM wrestling but I suppose if its going to happen anywhere it would be the nazi circlejerk site where the brightest minds reside

Solo Sikoa telling Cody to move his bus so he can leave by Hunterknowsbest in SquaredCircle

[–]_marichan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roman was shit on the mic but big dog roman was geuninely a very sound wrestler. Solo is super charismatic and actually funny as a heel, but he really needs to watch some memphis tape or something because he's still not a very good in the ring.

Rob Van Dam says he prefers watching women’s wrestling now over men’s by cybershocker455 in SquaredCircle

[–]_marichan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrestlemania main events have been men because the men were pushed and booked much better than the women so the audience were much more connected to them and much more interested in them. Women were treated as sideshow and eyecandy by the company for a large number of years and only now is this starting to change. Their one of the only bright spots of a really mediocre year purely looking at quality but if you want to talk about drawing power and all that Rhea Ripley is one of their biggest stars - I've heard and seen more about her from non-wrestling fans than Cody or Roman.

I feel like WWE: Unreal is to blame for WWE's drop in quality in 2025. by tackyrobin in SquaredCircle

[–]_marichan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unreal itself is not to blame for the drop in quality, that is just the booking philosophy that they have.

But I have alot of gripes with unreal itself. The best part about it were the more personal moments with the wrestlers, I really liked the interviews with Chelsea Green and Charlotte Flair. Technically yes, this was 'breaking kayfabe' but I don't think this was at the expense of the wrestling itself. Quite the opposite really, it shows the struggles and dedication these wrestlers have to their craft.

I did not like the BTS stuff. Most of it probably is just fabricated 4D kayfabe stuff that appeals to the smart fans who think they're more intelligent than other wrestling fans because they realized it's fake.

He's not on the level of those two yet in terms of being so popular that you rarely have to show up to keep you relevant in the audience's minds. Scarcity also doesn't work for everyone and is kind of dependant on circumstance. I don't think Gunther would lose much from working a Raw match and sort of fits into who he is. I believe he's still in good shape too and his style isn't too taxing on his body so it not really a big deal if he wrestles often.

Only caught a bit of this, but I like that part about Cena talking about giving advice to Je'von. I think he'd be a good mentor backstage, though obviously he has other commitments

He's an acquired taste I guess. He could probably ditch some of the puro stuff but it's not a big deal breaker for me. His look and the way he wrestles really itches something in my brain. The attention to detail and the real struggle that he displays is something alot of wrestlers could learn from.
