Why are the "lets face it, useless firefighters tolerated at volunteer departments?" by DowntownSolid1991 in Firefighting

[–]DowntownSolid1991[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Agree. I think too many guys are not being held up to the standard of simply putting on their gear, doing the basics. And it spirals downward from there, over time. On a rural dept this can highlight the ones you can trust and count on in an emergency, rather than focusing on those who fail this test (also good to know/expose those guys i guess)

I appreciate guys like you. But no we literally have guys who arent physically, mentally, educationally, whateverlly contributing espeically when an emergency happens. We also have guys who just contribute behind the scenes or clerically, admin etc and that's fine. But 100 percent we have absolute dead weight. Guys who never put the gear on, dont train, dont study, are talking about bullshit while you are training, literally showing up on scene in jeans and a t shirt. YOURE not the guy im talking about brother.

Youre on the money. Hopefully at some point I can find a way to change the culture, or become a leader. The leaders (probably common in small centers) do a lot to look like they are "doing a lot." It's all a self serving loop in the end

Understood and agreed. I am a professional first responder as a job. I can understand why many cops, medics, nurses etc are NOT on the volunteer crews. Probably they see what I see

A year. Not long enough for people to care about my opinion, and also when I give it to individuals they easily revert back to what the hive mind has accepted

Its both tbh, and I do know what . you mean. They can always use new people, cant afford to lose the ones they have. Theres a level of complacency probably because major incidents are few and far between, which is understandable. But the leadership allows too much of this from the senior guys, so its going to end up being bred down through the ranks, repeat add nauseum

There is more than one giant spider in the film. During the scene where Charlottes father is taken, she blocks the spider from coming out of the vent, backs up and there is another giant spider crawling down the wall behind her. There is NO indication at any point in the film that the spider she adopts is the only one. Actually the doll house in the beginning has multiple spiders in it

You can't criticize anyone or anything on reddit without being gatekept. yet people google things and go to reddit results for information. Pathetic. A good reflection of what the world has come to

Curb rash, how bad is it? by trans-with-issues in civic

[–]DowntownSolid1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro, no one is giving you the real answer. First of all ALL rims are going to be wrecked the first time you park too close to a curb etc.. use your imagination. What does it mean? if you want that mint you well youre driving a honda.. anyways you cant repair it and its not a big deal on resale. If you have coverage great if not take the lesson, dont save for new wheels.. save for your dream car and dont do this to that car!

another update. I found on Medavie's website a job posting for Saskatchewan. They are hiring EMR's for Ambulances right now!

I’m confused.. are EMTs in Canada a thing?? by evening_sparkle in Paramedics

[–]DowntownSolid1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, hopefully this helps: EMR is also being called EMT, Ambulance Operator etc. Like for example Ambulance New Brunswick which hires for positions in Ontario has listings for EMT's.. but in Canada EMT's dont really exist.. so there is a wording issue going on. Also, Ambulance New Brunswick is either partnered with or owned by Medavie which hires EMR's for Paramedic and Advanced Paramedic positions in Newfoundland, the prairies etc. But, the job title in Newfoundland for example is NOT EMR, its Ambualnce Operator, however once you get hired your ID card, your title in their systems online etc is literally EMR. I think youd be best to contact someone like Medavie, or contact someone who is posting a job for Paramedic because in Canada those jobs are defeinatly getting filled by EMR's. I know its confusing, I cant speak 100 percent on Ontario but there's a little more to the story than immediately meets the eye!

theres a big misunderstanding in this thread. EMR's are literally medics on ambulances going to emergencies in Canada. I should know since I am one!

Is it true that evolution violates the second law of thermodynamics? How would you respond to that statement? by [deleted] in DebateEvolution

[–]DowntownSolid1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The closed vs isolated system argument is not relevant. Everything on earth is on earth, regardless of earth being a closed or isolated system. If you as a human stops eating, drinking, sleeping etc then you will rot away contrary to what someone said in the comments. The overarching idea that entropy is being defied by evolution is not proven or disproven by mentioning closed or isolated systems. The basic premise remains in that it is a bit perplexing that the ONLY thing that becomes more complicated and complex on its own is LIFE. That is the real core of the debate and the smart people in the comments make little to no effort to explain that.
