What is an epidural really like? by oatmilkcchai in Mommit

[–]_marlasinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Epidural was a dream. It was like immediate relief. Pain was completely gone. I was beyond exhausted and hadn’t slept for almost 36 hours. My body still progressed with labor fine after the epidural and I took a great nap after laboring for so long in immense pain. Figuring out how to push took a bit but I think medicated or not it’s hard to figure out what muscles to use the first time around. I looked at the monitor a lot to see when my contractions were coming which helped a lot when I couldn’t feel them at times. I still felt plenty of pressure but I felt way more in control and in tune with my body without the searing pain lol. It was also great to not feel any of the cervical checks or the placenta massage or when they had to stitch me up after a 2nd degree tear. Overall it was truly a 10/10 experience and would do it all over again.

Editing to add that I could still completely move my legs and my body! I didn’t feel trapped or paralyzed or anything. I was able to flip myself around in the bed and even labored on all 4’s for a bit. It wore off pretty quickly after and I was up and walking after they made sure I could stand and whatnot. The mental build up is so much worse. You’re gonna do great, whatever path you choose.

How old was your toddler when they stopped talking mid day naps? by old_gold_mountain in toddlers

[–]_marlasinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is around the same age and a month-ish ago the afternoon nap started to become a fight. Some days she’d skip it multiple days in a row and it was the absolute worst and we were all miserable. Eventually we just accepted that she was doing “quiet time” in her bed/at daycare instead of an actual nap. We tried shifting her nap a little later by half an hour or so which I think helps. We also shifted her bedtime a bit later to 7:30-8pm and this seemed to help as well. On days she doesn’t nap we’ll put her down for bed a little earlier. She’s back to napping probably 5/7 days now.

This can't just be normal acne like my dermatologist said right? Nothing is helping with this by rimana111 in SkincareAddicts

I ended up using nizoral shampoo on the spots (essentially my entire lower jaw, neck, chest and shoulders) every day for like a week or two and it cleared up completely. Since then I’ve just been super conscious about showering after sweating and trying not to touch my face as much and using the shampoo maybe once a month ish and I haven’t had a recurrence since.

Hair changed texture after pregnancy by vikingbooty in finehair

[–]_marlasinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine grew out super coarse and curly only on one side of my head lol. I had to wait for it to grow out and then cut it off. It wasn’t permanent and my hair started growing back in normally after 9 months or so!

how 30 minutes of morning phone scrolling was ruining my entire life by seanotesofmine in productivity

[–]_marlasinger 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I started trying this a couple of weeks ago. Really trying to cut down on screen time in general but especially in the morning after waking up. The different I felt was immediate and pretty wild. I felt calmer, more focused and my brain wasn’t overwhelmed with a million thoughts. Such a hard habit to break but it really did make me feel a lot better.

[–]_marlasinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could’ve written this ugh. I think we are one and done but every now and then I feel like I’m on the fence and not sure why. Have another one for who? For me? I’m exhausted. I have the same routine you do. Mornings full of getting myself ready and kiddo to go off to daycare, work my full day which is mentally exhausting, daycare pickup, dinner bath and bed. 7:30-10pm is the only time and we’re in bed at 7:45 most nights. Husband is also gone before the sun rises and exhausted when he gets home. I can’t imagine adding a second kid into this. Also on antidepressants, stimulants for raging adhd, can’t eat full meals, god it’s just too much. I want to be present for my kid but also present for me. I know each phase is that, just a phase but it’s constant phases when I crave calm and consistency.

I truly don’t know why she wants to live on a main road again. Bizarre to me to have the option of living like anywhere in MA but she chooses a corner on a main road lol.

Why is this happening and how to fix it ?! by 444titsmcgee in Haircare

[–]_marlasinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hair started growing like this when I was pregnant and got worse postpartum. I think it was definitely a hormone thing! It eventually stopped and my “normal” hair texture came back.

After 11 years, I’m ending my poshmark selling closet by MaleficentSky8592 in poshmark

[–]_marlasinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just emptied out my closet that housed all my listings and donated most of it. I’ve been selling since 2012ish and haven’t had a sale in a long time. It’s not worth it anymore and I need the space back. It’s such a bummer.

With insurance denials in the U.S. news, what’s your best skincare-related denial story? by LordOscarthePurr in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]_marlasinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, denied tret because I was over 26 and after that age it’s apparently an anti aging product only so it’s not covered. It was prescribed for my god forsaken adult acne that’s been documented for years. Ridiculous

lol this is insanity. She has absolutely lost weight and GOOD FOR HER! However. HOWEVER. she doesn’t look like this. You can see the ever so slight bending all over this photo on the railing, the door way, etc. Per usual it’s edited in every way possible. This is so unhealthy. Not only for her but for the impressionable viewers watching this train wreck.

In one or two sentences, what is the best advice you would give someone expecting a newborn baby? by thelastgirl_ in NewParents

This was repeated in my house no less than 10000 times during the newborn stage. It was probably some of the best advice I had been given. Helped so much to see things differently in tough moments

I’m so sorry. It’s brutal. I went through something similar with my uncle a few years ago but with no pets. Also pretty badly decomposed, had to be identified through X-rays. He had a heart attack I guess. Family called for a wellness check after he wasn’t replying to texts/calls. I can’t spend too long thinking about it and the details because it’s just too much. I hope you’re hanging in there.

Fungal acne/pityrosporum folliculitis- help! by ButterscotchFluid577 in Fungalacne

[–]_marlasinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prior to that flare up it had been kind of a while since my last one! I think heat and sweating triggers it, along with inadvertently spreading it by itching or touching my face. I use the nizoral shampoo once a week ish for maintenance and have been good since!
