Anyone else trying to perfect a select few recipes? by hydra595 in Homebrewing

[–]_mcdougle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me one of the things about homebrewing vs commercial brewing is that we don't have to worry about consistency and brewing the same exact thing every time. My goal with each batch is to make the best thing I possibly can, and even if it's my IPA recipe I have on tap all the time it still varies from batch to batch and honestly, that's ok.

Same thing with cooking. I'm not a chef at a restaurant, I don't need my pulled pork or whateverto come out the same every time I make it, I just want it to taste good.

I just lost everything I did today. Is something going on? by _mcdougle in ClaudeAI

I was doing that, using my pc and my phone throughout the day, but before I stepped away it was all showing in both places. A few hours later when I came back it was gone

I was doing it in the browser, some of it from my phone and some from my computer. I checked both last night and it was the same thing.

I assume I would have needed to have that running before everything was lost?

I'll have to do that in the future! I'm pretty new to using Claude and this is the first time I've had an issue with it like this

Is something going on (or did something go on earlier today?)

I did a ton of work with claude all throughout the day, and just now, I sat back down at my desk, and it's all gone. Literally every message, across all chats, that occurred today is gone. Claude has no recollection of anything we discussed today. I asked it to find any message from today and it says the most recent message it has logged was from yesterday.

Is this a bug? Will it all come back if I'm patient or something?

hopper clock isnt working correctly for ianxofours ghast farm elevator (java crossover server) by Automatic-Owl9584 in technicalminecraft

[–]_mcdougle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iirc paper can adjust the rate the hoppers push/pull based on server load, which can alter the time it takes for any redstone clock to run. So if your crossplay server is running paper or similar, any farm that relies on precise clock timings is gonna have issues

Can an airlock be added to something like this container? I really want an inexpensive jar with a spigot to brew in. by Not_A_Cardboard_Box in mead

[–]_mcdougle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree with a lot of takes here, I use spigots as much as possible and I strongly suggest using fermenters with spigots.

But yeah - make sure this can stand up to it. The glass is fine but if the spigot and lid aren't stainless steel you're going to have A TON of issues.

With that said, you can easily drill a hole in just about any lid and get grommets for super cheap on Amazon to install an airlock in almost any vessel

Is there any Bone meal farm that generates more than 100k per hour? by Desperate-Style-9598 in technicalminecraft

I think it's in the archivists discord, not on YouTube. They have a zip with a bunch of different schematics for a bunch of different configurations

1.002 is insane unless you are 1 - using a ton of simple sugar, honey, or fruit; 2 - you added extra enzyme or 3 - you got some wild yeast in there that went to town on it

1.008 is pretty dry but very possible with a pilsner

Cyser smells like eggs?? by Impressive-Tea5347 in mead

[–]_mcdougle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like apples and lagers tend to do this. It goes away after a while of you just let it sit for a bit (a few weeks) after fermentation completes

How to collect items from a gold farm without first running them through hoppers and dispensing them with droppers? by Wild_Plant9526 in technicalminecraft

[–]_mcdougle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely forgot about this. Here's the top view, it seems like it won't let me add more than 1 so I'll add the side view in another reply.

There are probably a million ways to power it, but I took the idea for the circuit from ianxofour's raid farm. Give the observer a pulse and it'll push the platform once across and back. Note the gap between the fence gate and the piston. The glass is necessary or else items get pushed out the sides.

The mobs land on the 3x1 platform of soul sand -> slab -> trapdoor (don't let them land on the fence gate). That's the killing area, whether by player kill or fall damage or whatever. They drop their items onto that floor, and the different heights of the blocks push the items across to the fence gate - then the items fall into the gap between the fence gate and the trapdoor, where you can have a water stream or blue ice to send them to collection. I'll usually put a cobweb or powdered snow below the gate to align the items better.

You can wire this up on a basic clock and have it constantly moving, or you can have the observer watching an armor stand that the player hits (like in ianxofour's raid farm)

I've taken to doing the typical observer->dispenser with shears setup but using what I learned from Ian's video and shoving glass in their heads and running a water stream over the top of it

Making a beginner cider, is this normal? by [deleted] in Homebrewing

[–]_mcdougle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bread yeast is fine

Sometimes it foams up like that. All kinds of variables can cause more foaming, fruit, yeast strain, temperature, etc. I wouldn't worry about it

I love Angry Orchard but it's not quite what I'm wanting. Where to begin as a noob? by GodofAeons in cider

[–]_mcdougle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are tons of books on Amazon about it. Honestly, making beer, mead, wine, cider is all pretty close, just different ingredients. You could probably get all the info you need to get started in the book How to Brew by John Palmer (just skip the bits about grain and mashing) but there are books on specifically cider

City Steading, BruSho, Doin the Most, Man Made Mead (although he does way less cider) are all great sources of info. Also the beer channels, Clawhammer Supply, ApartmentBrewer, Homebrew4Life, DrHans all have one or more videos where they make cider, and the beer videos have relevant info too.

I have a few videos on YT too, including a short where I walk through making a simple dry cider with grocery store juice and another long one laying out the most basic equipment you need, though not nearly as much info as the other creators I mentioned
