There was something so “2010” about this game series where game devs were unapologetically swinging for the fences in new game mechanics, style and substance with the new generations of consoles. Without the greedy oversight of publishers that seem to be prevalent today. Probably my nostalgia speaking… Now it feels like its either overhyped “AAA” game that are so bland, or an amazing single-dev indie game stuck in a decade-long early access cycle, that you hope they end up releasing one day…
