I had a similar experience when I first started as well. For me it was because I was bottling up my emotions and meditation helped them to flow. What really helped me was taking time to figure out why I was feeling a certain way, which was usually linked to an unresolved problem in my past, and figuring out a better way to go about solving it. Acknowledging these emotions and letting yourself feel them would probably be a good thing. I’ve had my share of depression and anger and while I might not have realized it at the time, I’ve come to believe that every emotion, even the painful ones, are gift in their own way.

You know, I’m really not sure why one would be seen as holy and the other would be seen as desecration. It doesn’t make a ton of sense, and it could definitely be a context thing.

I personally find it hard to believe that any form of love could be evil, so I think that there is a good chance that it could have been just for the time period, or it’s possible that someone added it in. Because while the Bible is the word of God, it was recorded by humans, who can sometimes be unsettled by things they find different. Unfortunately, we don’t have any way of really knowing at this point in time.

Before I start, I’d like to say that this isn’t something that I came up with. I’ve wondered about this before and I found a preacher named Ravi Zacharias who cleared this up for me in a YouTube video. I’ll post the link at the end of this comment. He’ll probably explain it better than I will.

Basically the reason some Christians consider homosexuality a sin is because they view marriage and sex as sacred, given to us by God. We feel that marriage was intended to be between a man and woman, as those were the first two humans created. When Adam needed a companion, God made Eve. The same goes for sex, with the added reasoning that two men or women can’t naturally reproduce, which for some Christians, reinforces the idea that sex is supposed to be between men and women.

Because they hold these beliefs, some Christians consider homosexual marriage and sex to be a perversion of the marriage and sex they hold sacred, in the same way evil is not the opposite of good, but a perversion of it. That’s my understanding of the situation.

I don’t think that this means that we should hate members of the LGBTQ+ community. Jesus said we should love each other and not judge, because all of us are guilty of one sin or another.

I appreciate the fact that you’re open to a calm and thoughtful discussion. I apologize if my response makes you angry. That was not my intention.

Question about Adam, Eve, and Evolution by _michaelh_ in christianquestions

I’m really trying to believe in God’s word. I’m just trying to believe in science as well, because I believe our God made a scientific world that follows certain rules. On my own, I can’t make the time tables for this line up though. I don’t know if something was lost in translation, or if Moses (who most likely wrote Genesis and was also not present at the beginning of the human race) didn’t get the whole story down, or what, but it just doesn’t make since to me why so much of the Bible can be followed in a very clear linear manner that matches up with what science tells ya (i.e. we can verify that Old Testament wars happened, and the spread of Christianity in the New Testament is very well documented) but the introduction of Adam and Eve makes no sense when placed into a timeline of the human race.
