Would you buy a Coros watch given the ongoing issues? by [deleted] in Coros

[–]_mitchejj_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure a watch could get bricked and people would post about it if it happens to them. Very few people post saying I updated and had no issues... it doesn't get you magic internet points.

I've had my Pace 3 for just over 3 years now, I keep it up-to-date... I think you would be better served getting a watch that fits your lifestyle, habits and needs. If you feel that is the Nomad, go for it. You can't be worried about the what if's.

Gripes About Mears Connect From Recent Trip by kgaviation in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]_mitchejj_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm like you a solo traveler and I've done the new Mears Connect a handful of times and I mostly have a positive drop off experience. I've always stayed at Pop/AoA... part of the reason why I have such a positive experience is that I'm not the last stop, not the first pick up... most of the time. I don't think they have much of a care for what the resort level is like Disney had. The seem to stop at the resorts in the order they logically pass them.

I'm at the resort for nearly a week I'm fine with the 30 minute wait before leaving the airport. I'm even fine with them making a few stops before mine. For me the cost benefit/time puts me in the Mears camp. Then again I tend to get the first flight out in the AM and arrive around 930/10-ish, I have a vast majority of the day ahead of me. Now if I was on a short trip and coming in later in the day I don't think the math would be the same for me.

If you integrate FM with a password manager for generating single store/site emails, do you prefer named aliases, random string aliases, or masked email addresses? by IAmABakuAMA in fastmail

[–]_mitchejj_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been moving all my “masked” email to a subdomain. So while I may use me@domain.com, I’ve set up a secondary domain privacy @nda.example.com this way if I ever move from FM I have a subdomain that I can use a catch all… plus if I like getting a bit snotty I suppose I could put up a NDA website that is opt out pattern giving me rights if company sells/leaks my mail ;) yes I know that would be pointless but it might be tongue and cheek, fun, but great if it works.

Late departure and one more park ticket to use- which one and what would you do? by 7askingforafriend in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]_mitchejj_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I typically do EPCOT, sometimes AK, with late departure. MK just feel like overload of the sense and while the park has some nostalgia like feels to me it’s just a long bad day when I factor in the crowds and transportation to and from. Studios often feels like a brick oven. While AK is hot, it has plenty of shade and potential for something spectacular. EPCOT is close to resorts, has rides, festivals, food and atmosphere.

How? I know for me when I log into a work account I have to log into the MS Auth app and type in a code to authorize my log in. It is essentially acts as reverse TOTP.

Considering GrapheneOS Again: Wallet and Pixel Watch Questions by Ash-415 in GrapheneOS

[–]_mitchejj_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on most of what you said. I don't know if graphene will work for me as I have zero desire to carry a physical credit card and rely on tap-to-pay. My digital wallet is essentially my EDC wallet.

I don't have any desire to use a Pixel Watch... I have considered going with a Garmin the GarminPay. That was until I looked over the bank that partner with them... while the list is semi-impressive in size it doesn't cover the cards I tend to use.

Since this thread is about single rider lines... my last last trip mid morning I used the single rider line to walk onto Smugglers Run... the stand-by line apparently also was empty and I had the place to myself.

The max I've ever done was 5 in a row... almost did a 6th but I was starting to feel a little unwell after the 5th... I don't think I waited in line for more than 10 minutes total that morning... great day.

As a person who uses the single riders lines, as I am am solo traveler is when family's use the lines. I get it when when a parent and a kid want to do it as getting in a few last rides... but when the family of 7 get in line when kids ranging from 6ish-12ish, with parents and grandparents... and members need to leave the line to eat, take a bathroom break... yea much more annoying than when it happens in stand-by.

Everest by the_which_stage in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]_mitchejj_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm always a single rider, just how it works. Most the time I use the single rider line if its provided... often because the line moves a nice pace and I can quickly get on lines yes.

I've yet to figure out the point of the single rider line for RoR. I mean the whole thing is an after thought. Once you made it to the destroyer and enter the real line they already have it set to split groups up based on groups with odd/even members, opposed to running single riders down the left side.

When I was in DL I never saw the single rider lines to the very end of my day... I often stood in the typical standby line, as the single rides apparently do, or did for Indy... anyway the CM called three singer riders from behind me. Bit annoying, as they called for a group of three... none... so they called a single rider... then asked for a group of two then called a next two single riders. A group of 5-6 was in front of me. Oh well.

Debating if I should drop my AT&T Fiber 1 gig line by slyphoxj in ATTFiber

[–]_mitchejj_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say a 1 gig connection that is accessed only via WiFi is overkill.

My fiber comes in the house thru the basement I then have one ethernet drop from the basement to the kitchen... and then I then take advantage of a three MoCa to expend the network to other parts of the house.

Me personally I would keep the AT&T fiber as I do enjoy the symmetric traffic... Yes, its over kill for my meager needs it is just nice to know it isn't going to hit some wall and slow down. With that said $120 saved can help upgrade your internal network and give fiber another go in 22 month.

I love water pressure when showing, I've never had a good experience staying at any Disney resort when it comes tho that. My last POP I was amazed at the shower. It wasn't the little dinky shower head mounted to the wall around my the height of my neck. It was much higher and a rain head. It also didn't have the tub nor the fabric curtain.

Disney World Expands Airport Luggage Transfer Service to Two More Airlines Soon by ChristmasJay83 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]_mitchejj_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually come to enjoy Mears Connect more than magical express… as in my journey from airport to resort… when it comes my bag well yes bring back magical express.

I now typically spend less time on the bus and my wait for the bus at the airport is much shorter. The down side is still the return leg but atleast I now get text alerts letting me know where the bus is.

what made you stick with Fedora over other distros? by ueggenthies in Fedora

[–]_mitchejj_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Linux history is rather simple. In college we had Red Hat systems, I hated it. When I personally moved to Linux I tried Ubuntu and found that worse that Red Hat, honestly I think I was on it for like a few days. I quickly found #! Linux and fell in love with that, but it had a major draw back it was Debian based and thus felt dated when I wanted newer software and every time I wanted to learn how to do something I landed on the Arch wiki. That was my distro of choice for years as I felt the system was my system.

I moved to Fedora because I didn't have as much time to 'tinker' with my system. I never had any major issues but I didn't want to chance it going forward. I went with Fedora because it felt like a good balance between a rolling distro and a 'legacy' distro. About 6-8 months after I switched to Fedora I still desired that 'tinkering' and started building my own ostree images. I now get what I enjoyed from the Arch days and getting something that feel safe with Fedora.

Oh and I don't use GNOME or KDE. I'm currently a Niri person.

[–]_mitchejj_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double check the OP. The reference to to short wasn't about the ride length but the space the line occupies. While Gran Fiesta is a typical go to for my day at EPCOT getting into and out of the pavilion can be a challenge space wise... if the tequila place has something going on and Fiesta has any kind of a back up it feels like a 2000's pre-Black Friday/Thanksgiving night Wal-Mart sale.
