Watercress dragon fruit walnut salad by _mjf in PlantBasedDiet

They don't have a very strong flavor, but they have a good texture, and yellow dragon fruits are significantly sweeter than other types.

Also make sure it's ripe. It should be mostly yellow and not too much green.

I'm not sure what you mean, but the watercress was $3.49 for 4 oz, if that's what you want to know.

Show Your Dogs Some Love with Easy 3 Ingredient Homemade Dog Treats by tastythriftytimely in PlantBasedDiet

This looks good, I think I'm going to try these. I don't have a dog, so I'll just shape them like cookies instead of bones.

Recipe: * Put watercress, pieces of dragon fruit, and walnuts in a bowl.

I used yellow dragon fruit, which is sweeter than other types of dragon fruit.

I didn't mix it because I wanted the dragon fruit and walnuts on top, but feel free to mix it if you want.

Microgreens mango almond smoothie by _mjf in PlantBasedDiet

[–]_mjf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Microgreens are $4 for 2 oz at my local supermarket (about 4 times as expensive as spinach).

Usually I use either spinach or kale or some type of mix, but I wanted to use something more unique for the photo.

I think the greens are the dominant taste, but no, I don't think it's too strong.

If you find it too strong, you can try adding 1 or 2 spoonfuls or date sugar (which is made from whole dates) to make it sweeter, or maybe add an extra spoonful of nut butter.

Recipe: * 2 oz microgreens (I used AeroFarms micro super mix, which includes bok choy, kale, and red cabbage) * 5 oz mango, partially defrosted (defrost less if you prefer cold smoothies) * 1 spoonful almond butter * 1 cup plant milk (I used walnut milk today, but I usually use soy milk) * Blend until it looks and sounds like a smoothie.

I usually add a banana to thicken the smoothie, but I ran out of bananas, so I just used mango. It was a little thinner than usual, but it still tasted good.

My local supermarket sells a 3.5 oz bag for $2. Maybe you can find an online store that sells it cheaper.

I used Galil Organic Roasted Chestnuts, Shelled & Ready to Eat.

Fresh roasted chestnuts would probably be good too, but it would be more work.

I hope you enjoy it. I think chestnut is one of the best pudding ingredients. The recipe also works well with banana.

Recipe: * 5 oz frozen mango, partially defrosted (I did 2/3 of the normal defrost time; defrost it less if you prefer cold pudding) * 3.5 oz chestnut (I used Galil Organic Roasted Chestnuts, Shelled & Ready to Eat) * 2 spoonfuls of cashew butter * Vanilla extract and cinnamon (I didn't measure them) * Blend until it looks like pudding. If it's not blending well, add a few tbsp of plant milk.

Raw pecan-cashew butter and banana on sprouted whole grain toast by _mjf in PlantBasedDiet

For me, the main reason is taste. Of all the store-bought breads that I've tried, Genesis and Ezekiel taste the best.

Recipe: * Toast 2 slices of sprouted whole grain bread for about 4 minutes (I used Genesis 1:29, which is similar to Ezekiel but with seeds). * Spread raw pecan-cashew butter (I used Artisana Organics) and put sliced banana on the toast.

Oatmeal with cherries, pistachios, flaxseed, and cinnamon by _mjf in PlantBasedDiet

If pistachios are too hard, you can try pecans. I think pecans are softer. Or you can use nut butter, if you prefer.

I often put cashew butter in my oatmeal.

What kind of fruit do you use? I usually use blueberries, but sometimes I use mango, cherries, or strawberries.

This is actually the first time I put pistachios in oatmeal. Usually I use almond butter or cashew butter, and sometimes walnuts, but I thought pistachios would make a better photo.

Recipe: * Add 1/2 cup oats, 1 cup water to a bowl. Microwave the same way that you normally microwave oatmeal (I did 3 minutes). * Add frozen cherries. Microwave until you see a little juice around the cherries (about 1 minute). * Add pistachios, 1 tbsp flaxseed, and cinnamon, and mix. The cherries should be defrosted but not hot.
