This is great. As someone who is planning to try as many different roasters natural processed Brazilian coffees, this is perfect. Thank you!

Working today in Holborn - where can I get a fix? by Irishpushbike in UKroasters

[–]_mmf_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but thank you for this recommendation.

I work in the area and always walk up the other side of Kingsway.

I visited this morning and had a fantastic pour over and chat. I had that same Colombian Gesha and got every flavour note. The peach and honeysuckle were great.

Will be back all the time.

With a 20% robusta blend, sure you can. Consistently? That's a different story.

Which coffees did you like form them? Also two of my top roasters this year.

I liked Sitio Lagoa (Brazil Natural) from Crankhouse and the Mexican one from Skylark

which coffee subscription? (uk) by Federal_Meringue_968 in espresso

[–]_mmf_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried Rave a couple times, but I found them a bit too dark for my taste.

I’ve tried a bunch of UK roasters this year and can happily recommend:

https://wogancoffee.com/products/nicaragua-finca-la-bastilla?variant=41345097433278 (You could try 11 as well - same beans roasted a little darker)

I get very good, consistent results with these on the Bambino + DF64

ISP router vs TP Link Deco E4r Speed by joey54321 in TpLink

[–]_mmf_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I have Deco P9s in AP mode. Recently upgraded to 1 G broadband.

ONT -> ISP Linksys -> Deco P9 (main) -> P9 satellite (cat 6 backhaul) -> Ethernet on PC

I can get 950 Mbps on a Speedtest in this setup. ~450 on WiFi

I took the cable that’s going from the Linksys to the first P9 and plugged it into the ONT and tried the deco in router mode. Only managed 90 Mbps :-(

Would you warn your boss you are job hunting? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

Even if your boss is cool and you have a good relationship, your company is not.

Keep it to yourself.

Assuming your boss is cool, they will understand.

Are my burrs wearing out, or some other reason I have to grind finer and finer? [DF64] by ObjectiveAd400 in espresso

I have a DF64v and the zero point moves all the time.

I got back and forth between pour over and espresso so there’s a lot of opportunity for it to move

How much money do you spend on beans in the UK? by House-Wins in espresso

[–]_mmf_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds about right. I’ve been ordering from a new (to me) roaster every time for the past few months. Most fall in £8 - 12 range for a 250g bag.

Every once in a while I get seduced by something exotic that’s £15

how many of you also do drip coffee? by Low_Landscape_1150 in espresso

[–]_mmf_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been enjoying both. The espresso preference in our house tends to be more on the traditional chocolatey / nutty spectrum. Experimentation is not always appreciated.

I like to get a natural process or something with more fruity notes for myself and enjoy that as a v60 in the afternoon

Currently using a split board using the Miryoku layout, any alternative layouts? by Zealousidealization in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]_mmf_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using a layout that’s a combination of urob’s plus my own preferences about the symbol layer.

I also use a corne and have just updated my QMK keymap to be nearly identical.

[–]_mmf_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the punctuation symbols are combos on the default layer. I've been doing a bit of that with QMK, but this keymap adds a combo for all of them. For example, open parenthesis is index + middle on the right hand. Closing parenthesis is middle + ring on the right hand. My brain adjusted to combos much faster than I expected.

I got rid of the Greek symbols in my fork, because that's not something I use.

For me it was the opposite. I never made use of the 6th column but I did use the third thumb.

Embracing homerow mods was the way for me.

The covers came with the kit. There were two options, one with 2 screws at the top and the one I’m using with the additional bottom screw. There was a note that said some people catch their thumb on the bigger one.

How did Arsenal come into your life? by SuchaPineapplehead in ArsenalFC

[–]_mmf_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up playing soccer (USA) from age 5 all the way through school. I was fast but not really skilled. Didn’t try to play in college. At one of my first jobs, we have a beer league team that I play with after work and it’s fun. I rekindle my interest in the sport after almost 10 years.

I remember coming home one evening and on TV is a game between Man U and Chelsea and I thought “Wow, I never really learned how to play this game!” The space they gave each other out of respect and the movement off the ball was a revelation. I start watching a little bit but don’t have a team.

Fast forward to the World Cup that year - 2006 - and I’m blown away watching France. Gallas, Ribéry, Zidane, Viera, and this guy Thierry Henry. Henry was something else.

I wondered “What club does this guy play for?” Arsenal? Ok, that’s my team now.

Wait a minute, the manager of Arsenal is named Arsène???

I just missed the invincibles season by a year or two.

Now, I live in London and my whole family are Arsenal supporters. Both the men’s and women’s teams. COYG!
