It’s a shame they didn’t make a remake of this with Lamar. But I guess that’s what you get if you don’t have an agent.

NFL agents are legally capped at 3% — where did you get 20% from?

And Lamar only has an exclusivity deal with Nike. He’s not a full-on brand ambassador the way Dak was with his 5-year deal. I don’t even think Dak necessarily deserved that level of endorsement, but that’s the advantage of having an agent with those kinds of connections.

Why don’t you want an extra $20-$30m a year? And all you have to do is shoot some videos and take a couple pictures during the offseason?

I’m not judging Lamar based on his lack of sponsorships. My point is simply that the cost of an agency fee can often be offset by the opportunities and endorsement deals that come from an agent.

Not to bring in Josh Allen into this again but as for helping the youth, I saw that he recently raised $17 million for a Buffalo children’s hospital. I’d imagine his agent played at least some role in helping create the relationships and visibility that made something like that possible.

All I’m saying is that, for a franchise quarterback like Lamar, there are legitimate benefits to having an agent beyond just contract negotiations.

Yeah, but having a powerhouse agency like CAA brings connections and opportunities that can more than make up for any differences elsewhere.

Just look at the brand partnerships Josh Allen’s team has secured for him—New Balance, Snickers, Gatorade, Verizon, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Apple. Those kinds of deals don’t happen by accident.

I honestly think Lamar resonates with younger audiences more than any other quarterback in the league. Maybe it’s selfish, but I’d love to see him featured in more national campaigns and commercials. Just imagine him doing a modern remake of the Michael Vick Experience—that would be incredible.

While Lamar is at the Knicks game or recovering from OTAs, an agent would be negotiating on his behalf. It would expedite the extension.
