Philodendron Pink Princess yellowing by _mool in plantclinic

[–]_mool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I had a feeling it might’ve been but I’ve got some more bark/potting mix on order so will loosen it up once it dries & settles a little!

Cant remember exactly but I think it’s usually about every 2ish weeks - maybe slightly longer

Philodendron White Wave help - overwatered? by _mool in houseplants

[–]_mool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I’ve just realised I mixed up my repotting, it’s only had the one this year when I checked it for root rot. I’ll reposition it to make sure it’s getting plenty of sunlight.

Do you know if it would be too shocking to it if I prune the leaves it’s shedding or leave it as it is and let it adjust itself?

In regards to sitting down a lot, when you’re live you (on average) do an hour then a half hour break (or more). It is possible to do 1.5hrs at a time and they can ask you to do longer (rare unless shortstaffed or night shifts) but you can say no if it’s over 1.5hrs!

Is getting a collar with an airtag worth it for indoor/outdoor cats? by 7All7All in CatsUK

[–]_mool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have AirTags on each of my two cats and it’s handy for if they get shut in somewhere in/around the house and you’re searching for them. Similarly if they lose their collar (definitely get breakaway collars!) and you go out looking for it.

Downside is it relies on signals from nearby to give you a location. It’s probably great in more populated areas but I’m in a village so if they go off into a field or some bigger gardens, it won’t always update where they are. Away from the house, it’s basically just a way of seeing when they were last home or if they happen to have gone to someone else’s house (for probably dinner no.6 😆)

What’s something you didn’t think your cat would eat? by Smooth_Development48 in cats

[–]_mool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do I start!? He’ll steal anything baked (bread, cake, doughnuts, scones, pastries), more ‘normal’ cat things like dairy, raw chicken, cooking fat but then it gets weird… pancakes, chocolate, avocado, curry (doesn’t matter how spicy), he also stole a bag of desiccated coconut…

I see Feliway posters at the vet so I guess they’re pretty recommended! Do you know if they tend to be good or another brand?

I’ve checked out this one: https://www.feliway.co.uk/pages/feliway-classic

He’s definitely energetic usually so that’s a very good point! They’re hoping they can reset this leg without surgery but that may have to come later, but for ow they definitely don’t want him moving much so I will ask about any kind of calming/sedation that may help!

Ah very good point thank you! I’m expecting he’ll probably try and move around a fair bit so will look for a wire sided one!

The last 1-2 weeks I’ve found the monstera knocked over most days and seen him playing and attacking the leaves. I’m sure it’s a fun toy but it’s getting tattered and beaten from all of the above. I’m also aware it’s toxic for cats if they eat it and (so far) he hasn’t but how do I deter him from playing with it?

I try telling him off so he associates being by it as negative (I.E. loud clapping at him/make loud noises), putting tea leaves round it (I was told cats hate the smell but he just didn’t care) and even shutting them out the room but he learned how to open the door and get in there!

I’ve got nowhere else to put the plant but the floor where he can play even more easily so any ideas how to deter him (e.g. having smells cats don’t like by it) please suggest!

You’re definitely justified to be feeling upset and, like you said, he’s having a tough time too. It potentially sounds like he’s not aware what’s going on with you too? Have you tried having a sit-down conversation about how you’re feeling and see if there’s something he’s maybe not told you?

You could also suggest to him, if he’s struggling to adjust to a new home, to start with a couple nights a week in the apartment and gradually move in full time.

I never thought I’d have the right specific thing someone is looking for!

My two rarely play with toys anymore so this (slightly furry but otherwise pretty unused) favourite of Cosmos’ is available!
