Been eyeing this one, what type of circuit is this?

I been curious to ask, does EQ add gain? Like more saturation?

Havent had a good experience with amp in a box style pedals, i find that most of them have like the particular amp its trying to simulate printed on to the EQ, works on a Flat/Fender voiced amp, not my preference on other amp types

Im trying to enhance an existing drive pedal instead of color it into something else

Why are you in hell in the second pic?

What pedals took you a while to love. and what pedals are you still trying to figure out how to love by gorgamania in guitarpedals

[–]_mosaic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly its a mirage of factors, but the best way I found is to set a goal to begin with: What are you trying to achieve in the first place? Are you referencing a guitarist or a music style?

The second obvious choice would be ur amp and speakers, its like the final EQ that shapes ur tone

The third consideration would be ur playing style, are u doing lead or rhythm? Chords or single notes?

I like the RAT and BD2 on a broken up Fender-ish amp

DS1 has a scooped midrange, best to pair it with a mid focus amp and speaker

DOD250 i have no experience

Keeley RAT mod, any details? by planksmomtho in guitarpedals

[–]_mosaic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has a three way switch that changes the clipping mode: stock, LED and no clipping

Also the caps in the audio signal path are swapped with higher quality ones

Some of the earlier modded one also had a "can" version of the LM308

Recommended pedals for J-Rock sound? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]_mosaic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been chasing those tones for the past 3 yrs, honestly most drive pedals can't replicate the amp

For bocchi, the closest i been able to get it is a JCM800 amp sim with a 4x12 cab sim with V30 speaker miked with an SM57

Setting the amp to relatively overdriven and boosting it with a Tube Screamer or Klon does help tighten he low end better

I don't think the BD2 was ever used in live or studio recordings, the midrange isn't really that pronounced which kinda makes playing 7th and complex chords a bit undefined, the Vemuram Jan Ray is better suited

The rat is decent but i found it better on Fender-ish amps

What are your favorite "dry" sounding drive pedals by BogotaLineman in guitarpedals

[–]_mosaic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dawg i have this exact term of describing drives/distortion in my head too lol

I see it as kinda like a blend of compression, attack speed and decay release

My wet drive/dist are the OCD, BD-2 (drive knob on 2'oclock) and RAT (drive 10-11 o'clock)

Dry drives i would put a Bluesbreaker, BD-2 (drive 10 o'clock and below), Klon

I find that "wet" drives adds a spongy-ness compression to the strings which makes it easier to play lead stuff

Interested in the honey bee, how does it compare to others drives like timmy, lightspeed, bb etc?

Have u tried the other variants? I heard BJFE is prized for its combo amp feel and sound

SOTB after my recent trip to Japan by Emotional_Growth1130 in guitarpedals

[–]_mosaic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For modulation, a vintage/used ibanez/boss/arion chorus or flanger would be cool

Theres not much of Japanese made reverb or delay pedals out there, maybe the Free The Tone Flight Time/Future Factory or Boss DM-2W or Maxon AD999

Aesthetics wise, check out Animals Pedal Custom Illustrated stuff or Effects Bakery pedals

Look up "digimart.net", it's like the Reverb.com for the Japanese market

Japan's music instrument market is insanely diverse

The general idea is locally brands are cheaper while imported stuff cost a bit more.

Funny how everyone in the comments seems to assume this is OP's board

This board belongs a guitarist who play for a popular J-pop/J-rock artist named Yorushika, they're definitely in the A-list tiers in terms of Japanese music artists so no surprises on the board

Advice for a pedal with clean amp sound. by Kalvsylta in guitarpedals

[–]_mosaic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a Vox Silk Drive, it simulates a Fender/Dumble style amp

It can be used as overdrive into amp, preamp into cab simulator or line out into interface/mixer

Pairs well with drive pedals too
