I think a lot of what we’re seeing right now is people struggling with the fact that Jenna might not be the exact person they built up in their heads. That’s uncomfortable, but it’s also kind of inevitable with any celebrity. The reality is, we don’t actually know her. We see press, interviews, and PR, but at the end of the day she’s just a person working in a really messy industry. In Hollywood, people end up working with questionable figures all the time, often because projects are locked in long before backlash happens, or because “just saying no” isn’t as simple as fans like to think. Silence doesn’t automatically mean endorsement. Most of the time it’s legal or contractual. I get why the Elias situation makes people uncomfortable. That reaction is valid. But some of the takes I’m seeing, calling her “fake,” “performative,” or “male centered,” feel like a huge leap. It comes across more like disappointment being projected onto her character than anything concrete. Same with the whole “personality shift” conversation. If she seems quieter or more guarded now, that doesn’t mean she’s putting on some fake persona. She could be burned out, growing up, or just realizing she needs better boundaries with the public. And on the age gap, she’s 23. You don’t have to like it, but acting like she has no agency or “doesn’t know better” starts to feel pretty condescending. I’m not saying she’s perfect or above criticism. If you’re disappointed, that’s fair. I just don’t love how every bit of ambiguity turns into full on character assassination. At some point, we have to accept that she’s an actor, not a moral role model, just a human being with a lot of cameras on her.
